This is a very difficult thing for me to state. I have always enjoyed a trip to Cracker Barrel....the last time there, my... favorite dish, chicken fried steak had changed. It is not as good as it was. When I think of 'Americana' and 'down home'cooking, I USED to automatically think of Cracker Barrel. No more.... The 'general store' has beautiful merchandise, to besure, but most of it is not well made and yet quite pricey. The food quality has slipped. The customer service, sadly, hasgone downhill. We had not been to C.B. in a few weeks. We decided to give it another try. This time was incrediblydisappointing! The hostess, who seemed to be unsure of what to do ( maybe she was new?), took us toward a table and brought usback to the hostess station. She said something about the table not being ready, took our name and said we would be called whenit was ready. Fair enough, a simple mistake, However, we waited well over a half hour before we decided to go elsewhere andleft. ???? Read more
Typical cracker barrel that has the store front and then the restaurant. Can be hard to maneuver around the store with kids due... to how packed the store is with items and can be with other guest. Service is typically pretty good. Have had sub par on fewoccasions but mostly good. Food for the most part is excellent with no issues with quality or quantity. Overall pretty enjoyabledining experience with the family anytime we go into Murray. Read more
Party of five of us in Murray KY . We were seated immediately. We dined around 7 ish on week end. Chicken Fried steak, with two... choices out of a list. I choose mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. Hot and delicious. They bring out hot fresh basket ofbiscuits and cornbread. Hubby had Chicken fried Chicken, with double order steak fries also excellent. Service was very good. Atmosphere was great, big beautiful fireplace, nostalgic and theme of yesteryear. There's a charming gift shop as you enter.Rocking chairs that line the porch you can buy. There is also church pews next to them. I highly recommend Cracker Barrel. Read more
Normally we are never disappointed with the food or service. We ordered loaded tots, they came out slightly warm with cold bacon... and cheese not even melted. I asked for a fresh batch and they gave me the same ones (I tore one in half and it was sitting ontop still when brought out) then my husband didnt get any refills. Once our food comes out, I'm instantly disappointed as myfood was cold also. Our sever, glasses and brown hair, wasn't attentive to our table at all and she would reach her hand totouch my son which is a huge red flag(thankfully she didn't because I would get his attention) but you don't touch peopleschildren with as many sicknesses are going around. Love this place so much! I love how when you wait for a table you can shop for all kinds of things in the gift shop. I love... the meatloaf, biscuits, pancakes (plus mini syrups they give you with them, and mashed potatoes. My biggest issue is the waitfor the food which can be really long. Perfect place to take friends, family, or fiancée for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Read more
Food is generally good and dependable. Service is typically good and friendly. I do feel so sorry for the workers that seat you,... because they have to repeat (to everyone), what the daily special is and I know that's exhausting. The blueberry pancakes Iordered recently were still raw and gooey inside....and the steak I ordered recently was not cooked enough ...was way toobloody, ordered medium well and the steak itself was too tough and chewy. Took a lot of it home to dog. Sirloin shouldn't bethat hard to chew. The burger I recently had was not seasoned even with salt. Guess the cook forgot that step. --Went at a busytime and waiter was still attentive and did a superb job! So....this location does some things great on a consistent basis andjust needs to work on cooking things a bit better. Read more
First challenge, Cracker Barrel App did not work. Tried several times. Came inside store to ask what I did wrong. No one seemed... to know. Hmmm, thats strange comments. Waited another 20 minutes before finally asked for a manager since no one came to thefront to take my carry out order as I was told would happen next. Was told by manager she would ring my order in and to callcurbside and she would bring it out. When I paid for my order no cashier seemed to know the curbside number other than call thestore number( which kept disconnecting from previous call before visiting the store.(Option #1 would disconnect, for orders andcurbside) I then advised would come back in and pick up myself at front counter even though manager told me she would bring outto me just tell curbside when I called. She advised me my meat was ready and available should be ready in to pick up in 10minutes . I did end up Calling curbside number, approx 10 minutes later, I did get answer, told order was ready, waited another10 +minutes even though advised curbside manager would bring out. Did I trust that comment? Absolutely not! I told would meet atfront counter.? He questioned if I had paid? ( this was not during peak hour when started the process of a total of 1.5hrs!) I visit Murray, KY often, first experience with this Cracker Barrel, not a good experience from beginning to end. Theyoung man brought out 2 pickup order from the kitchen area before my order, as I was waiting at the counter. He advised he hadmy order ready. He appeared again with my order 5 minutes later. The breakfast is great and its served all day long. The chicken fried chicken is good and comes with 3 sides. Good biscuits and... cornbread. Be sure to tip well! The service is always great. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. A timeless Familyrestaurant. Read more
