When got there was was empty.. Sweet tea was decent.. Both Bathrooms were nasty. People that came in after us got their food... first. Then the people after them got their food before us to.. Come to found out locals are top priority. That didnt botherus.. However after the long wait we finally get our food... Out of all the plates only one was edible... Always stop here when in town. I?m not much of a fish person but it?s so fresh and tasty. The batter on the fish and chips... (fresh cut fries) is so yummy. The blackened grilled grouper doesn?t taste fishy at all. The coleslaw seemed dry this time butjust added tarter sauce. This was our lunch. Read more
Been wanting ot go to Mrs. Fish since I visited my mom this fall. Because of the off season the restaurant was only open until... certain times, so it may it difficult to visit. However, because of their great menu and prices I knew eventually I would makeit here! So, my mom and I went for it on a hot and sweltering day we entered Mrs. Fish. The restaurant was empty except for acouple of people and we were warmly greeted by our waiter James. My mom decided to get the fried grouper with green beans andhush puppies. I got the blackened grouper with green beans, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The grouper surprised me as it had amild and sweet taste--very delicious! The fried grouper batter was super light and had a nice crunch to it. Blackened was notvery salty and had a great taste as well popped well with the Tatar sauce that tasted homemade. The green beans were obviouslycanned, but washed and with a little salt and pepper paired well. The hushpuppies were delightful and not overly greasy orsalty. The coleslaw could've used some tlc as it was not creamy or flavorful at all. Minus one star for the coleslaw and thebathrooms that need some updating. Updated review of Mrs. Fish (not to be confused with Mr. Fish, which is a mediocre, fried fish, tourist joint). This is the... real deal, local, off-the-beaten-path, seafood restaurant that will become your go to beach place. We eat at Mrs. Fish everytime we're at the beach. The meals are only served on the finest paper plates, with the finest plastic utensils. If you'relooking for fancy ambiance and fancy table settings, this place probably isn't for you, but if you're looking for great seafood,at a reasonable price, and you love a laid back locals place, then this is your restaurant. One hint.....ask for melted butterto dip your hush puppies in...it will change your life. They do some eclectic specials and all the standard beach seafooddishes, something for everyone. The restaurant is almost exactly in the middle of downtown, but tucked off on a side street andnot super easy to find, but I'm semi local and like that it's not crammed with tourists.
