This was an absolutely great find while staying in Connecticut. Went with my SO & some of our friends for a mini road trip to... Rhode Island to check out The Nordic Lodge (review up soon) We were beginning to think CT didn’t have any good food spots. Wetried a pizza spot and it was just horrendous. Next morning we had breakfast & it was sub par. Moving on… Ambience: it’sindustrial Americana. Which I adore & enjoy. There’s an open air / visible kitchen. You can see the chefs at work. The bar isjust lovely. The lighting at night is a bit dull for my liking but I lived. There’s outdoor seating but I prefer inside.It’s a hot summer. Staff: They’re all amazing. However, our server Titus - was absolutely amazing. He was a people person &his passion was food & making us the patrons feel that was incredible. He made the dining experience a step above. He knew themenu, the preparation, the source, and had great recommendations- which I tried. Shout out to his vicious cat Icarus. Food:Burgers were had by my Wife, & 2 others. The special steak, 30 day dried aged, was had by me & one other. The “SummerBurger” was cooked to everyone’s preferences & it was juicy & oh so delicious. Not one complaint was had. Just smiles & notalking. Their fries are so crispy & soft. Well seasoned. Strawberry Cider - was delicious, crisp, and almost juice like. TheBlueberry Cheesecake was good & even better with rum! Now, that dry aged steak was phenomenal! Like butter in your mouth.Seasoned well & the garlic compound butter was just the icing on top. Cornbread was moist & almost like a cake! Chili with theirfire sauce hits the spot. We literally hit this spot twice. That’s how good it was. On our last day we had their deviled eggs- so good. Mac & Cheese - just right. Amazing brunch. We had the brisket sandwich, brisket egg benedict and the kids had a hot dog and cheeseburger. All very good.... Get the donut as well. Service was good and we had Father's Day reservations, we we had no wait to sit. Read more
My wife was looking for a place to have dinner in the Mystic area. As usual, we were looking for a gluten-free friendly... establishment since she has Celiac. She was drawn to the fact that they make their own gluten-free buns. She ordered themushroom burger, our son got the kids cheeseburger both with GF buns. Both said they were fantastic. I ordered regular withgluten. The order included the Ruben, a Witte beer, and a 2oz pour of the Orphan Barrel Fable and Folly. Everything wasfantastic. The macaroni salad with the Ruben was amazing! Long story short, you should definitely check this place out. Frontparking is almost non-existent but if you go down the side street there is another lot behind them that we were able to park in. Went here for lunch today and enjoyed great food! I had the Cobb Salad and my husband had the Mushroom Mae Burger. Both were... full of flavor and prepared perfectly . Our server was very attentive and pleasant. You would never know by our service that shewas handling all of the tables in the bar section because she was right on top of everything including refills to our beverages. It's great overall. The food is delicious, nice selection of beers, inventive cocktails. Good interior, plenty of space. The... only downside - it is quite noisy. Almost impossible to have a conversation because of the loud music. This is our second visit (we were in October of 2018 before) and we still give it a 5 start rating.
