This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. The cost is a little high on a weekly visit, but it gas some truly delicious food that... you might want to scope out once or twice a month at least. I used to go for the Dumplings but my recent visit included a baconcheese fries, a filet, baked potato, ... all these were so yummy and the best part was the Butter Cake dessert. Its now myfavorite restaurant dessert in Nacogdoches. Read more
Nice atmosphere and fast service! Great and home style food!
After a long day of driving we enjoyed a nice comfort meal at this restaurant. Dad had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and mac and... cheese and said it was good. My wife had the vegetable platter and she thought everything was very good. I had the cobb saladwith chicken - also good! Service was fine except for one thing. In order to refill my water glass the waiter picked up my glassfrom the top with his fingers grasping the edges. He returned the full glass the same way. Took my wife and sister in law for a great dining experience ,but was disappointed!!! We were seated quickly and our drinks were... brought in a timely manner. When the food arrived, me being a chef myself, looked at the food appearance and plating and wasdisappointed. The beef tips: very little meat, soggy rice and no seasoning, chicken fingers: poorly breaded and undercooked,instead of golden brown they were a yellow white color,; The chicken salad sandwich that I ordered was not seasoned, and hadrunny mayonnaise on it, the fries were cold with no seasoning as well. The peach cobbler the ladies ordered was undercooked andpale yellow with no brown sugar or cinnamon on it, instead it was loaded with granulated sugar. The strawberry lemonade washorrible. I asked a server for a to -go box in the hopes that our dog would enjoy this since we clearly did NOT!! Promptly leftonly a $10.00 tip and hightailed it out. We will not be back, $70.00 wasted! I am not disgruntled about anything, but merely seek to leave honest feedback. I placed and order online of the fish and shrimp... with sides. The catfish was VERY mushy and the cornmeal breading wasn't the best. I wasn't too overly impressed with anythinghere. The chicken and dumplings were decent. The green beans and the baked squash REALLY need some flavor. I was honestlyexpecting some down home southern cooking and the mark fell extremely short for me. Being a truck driver, I have eaten at someof the best restaurants around the US so that in itself has probably spoiled my tastebuds. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't theworst meal I've ever had, but I didn't enjoy it and felt compelled enough to leave an honest review of my personal opinions.Take it or leave it, opinions are just that. Nacogdoches restaurant was very clean and Quiet.The staff was very attentive, and gave good suggestions on Food choices.The Fish... plate was large and very Delicious. Tried the appetizer - fried bacon. Never heard of it but it was very good. Good food in this place.
