I ate here on 7/30/22 and Carrie was my waitress. I ordered the shrimp hibachi and it was excellent! My waitress, Carrie, was a... sweetheart. After my meal, I left without my purse. I live roughly 8 hours south of Nacogdoches and my keys were in my purse. Ihad really put myself in a predicament. I messaged Nijiya on Facebook.. on a Sunday.. because I knew that the restaurant wouldbe closed until the following Tuesday. The owner responded promptly, and came in on their day off to give me my purse andrefused money for their time. Talk about going the extra mile for their customers. Nijiya is a great family oriented restaurantthat can be complimented in every aspect. Read more

Update July 26, 2022: Due to the return of the original longtime hibachi chef, Nijiya has reintroduced their hibachi entrées... this week! Today was Day 1 of reintroduction, and I dined in to try out the lunch special. I chose the Vegetable Hibachi sinceI?m vegetarian, and it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend coming in and falling back in love with their scrumptiousfried rice? Just keep in mind that certain items they used to carry (i.e., bento boxes, yakisoba, udon, oyakodon) are notavailable, just the hibachi entrees! Also, note it is a small restaurant with limited staff, so if it is busy (especially nowwith the return of hibachi-loving customers) there may be a wait to get seated or receive service. Totally worth itthough! ___________________________________ Most divine, fresh, and delicious sushi in the area with a welcoming family-ownedenvironment. Great deals on lunch specials, even with the nationwide inflation on products. They have great vegetarian options ?just ask the waitstaff! My personal favorite is the Amazing Roll, substitute sweet potato instead of shrimp tempura. The AlmostDessert Roll is a must-try as well! One thing I appreciate about the sushi is that they do not drown the rolls in sauce, so youare able to taste the fresh ingredients in balanced bites. More sauce can be served on the side though if you like a littleextra! It is BYOB, so if you?re wanting alcoholic drinks, just plan to bring your sake, wine, etc., with you. Also, as a sidenote, they haven?t had hibachi/fried rice in over a year ? it has been permanently discontinued. There are still tons of otherdelicious options to choose from! Read more

Cari was our waitress, and she was very nice, patient, energetic, friendly, and overall awesome!! We came in around 6:30 pm and... it wasn?t too busy, there were a few tables with people, not too bad though. We had great service, Cari did not forget anythingwe asked for, and she paid close attention to our needs. 5 star for awesomeness!! Read more

I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for such a long time and have finally been able to go tonight! My husband and I... ordered edamame, agedashi tofu, steak hibachi, and tempura ice cream! My tofu was great though the fried part was extremely thinbut my husband's edamame had no flavor he said. The steak hibachi comes with onion soup and green salad! The soup was deliciousand I didn't like the salad but my husband ate most of it. The steak was seasoned just right and the vegetables sauteedperfectly! The rice was also delicious and was a very generous portion! No noodles which made my husband sad but the noodles area different option on the menu so make sure to state that when you order! Wish we went without dessert as neither of us wereimpressed but the presentation was certainly unexpected which made things fun. The entire bill was only ~$31 so not a bad pricefor a hibachi dinner at all! It's a small quaint restaurant that I'll definitely come back to for the sushi and the waitress wasvery friendly and checked on us to clear our table right when we needed her! All in all, not a bad place at all and definitelyworth a visit. Edit to add that the sushi lunch special is absolutely amazing and staff is on point as usual! Read more

I have been going there regularly since they first opened their doors at the North Street location in September 2008. They... serve the best Sushi in NAC and the owners are great people. Great for party sized to-go orders as well. Read more

Japanese American restaurant in the casual, ?Izakaya? style, which has been gaining popularity in the states amongst ?Foodies?... and weekend warriors alike, Nijiya, offers a range Japanese fare. Best ???? in Nac, for sure. Haven?t been to the new locationsince it opened, but I?m sure it?s just as good as the other two. Family owned and operated, locally for about 15 years, andnever had any complaints. (Pro tip #223-ask if they have any hamachi kama available...but keep that on the low!! ????????????) Read more
