If you are in Nanaimo, you have to take time to be here. The menu is perfectly curated. We had the day's special rose sauce... pasta, which turned out to be one of the best we ever had. Wood oven pizza were very different from what you generally get atthe restaurants. Red wine sangria was refreshing and a must try. Read more

Best staff and service we have received in Nanaimo. Our waitress Maddie was attentive, kind, knowledgeable and just a pleasure... to interact with. We sat out at this beautiful table in the road. It truly felt like we were in Italy. My fiancé and I were outfor a walk and we are so happy we came across this lovely place at dinner time. This place is an example of how everyrestaurant should run. Absolutely beautiful and amazing service. A definite must try!! Thanks La Stella we will be back. Read more

I was surprised how good the food was here. Very fresh and packed with flavor. Make sure you order a pizza to share with the... table since they have a wood fire oven. We had pizza and pasta and both were amazing. My fave was the fungi pizza. Read more

Travelled to Nanaimo, BC and went to this nice place. The gluten free pasta was very well made (a couldn't really tell the... difference from the wheat version), the risotto was okay, and the gnocchi had a nice fresh ragu. ???????? Read more

Wonderful atmosphere and awesome staff, but each dish was severely oversalted. We ordered gnocchi, and two pizzas: a marinara... (with anchovies) (pictured) and another with meat. The gnocchi was so salty that it was inedible, and the marinara pizza had athick layer of tomato sauce. The sauce layer was thicker than the pizza dough itself! The dough of the pizzas was very salty. Wedidn't say anything because we felt bad and had been really looking forward to trying La Stella out. There aren't many good andsuccessful restaurants on the island of this style. Hopefully if you are looking to eat there, this review will help you todecide. And perhaps a bolder soul than us will mention it to the chefs. Possibly it was only an error in our dishes. Everythingelse about La Stella is lovely. Their pizza oven is very pretty. Only the food, which also looked pretty, was unsuccessful. Read more

Our first time here and our last. The food was extremely disappointing, what an insult to Italian food. They had limited options... to add meat to most of their pastas, the meat they added to mine was cold cuts cooked, it wasn't pleasant. The appetitizer weordered was raw meat with chips on top, the meat tasted old. The ravioli dish I ordered was not authentic at all and the portionwas so small. Their red wine was sour as hell. Go to Asteras instead which is next door, they are a Greek restaurant but theirseafood pasta is to die for. The only good thing about the restaurant is the atmosphere, the food sucks and is overpriced. Read more
