We Were so excited to enjoy the fresh seafood of the island. Purchased 12 ?fresh? oysters. The guy serving us had to pick... around a couple of open ones, but it?s normal for a few to die. Upon opening them 5 of them were smelly and rotten. Sorelydissatisfied with the quality of their ?fresh? seafood especially when they are right next to the ocean and of course theycharge a premium price for it. Read more

Today I went in to to be severely disappointed with the halibut portion. This piece of fish was not even a third of the size... from my first visit. I was told, ?we do it by weight now?. How is that a $20 piece of Halibut? Read more

We had the taco deal on Tuesday, and chose the halibut. It was different than other tacos I had in the past, but in a good way!... There was some mild heat, great acidity with some pickled veg, and beautiful fresh fish. The price was 2 tacos for $10 onTuesdays. Awesome! Tonight we had the family fish pack take out (5 pieces cod, $41 on Fridays). Apparently, the cost of theFriday takeout depends on the fish that they use. Well done! Nice salt and pepper batter on the cod, not too greasy. Lots ofchips, and a tangy coleslaw with a slight carroway seed (I think) overtone. Nicely done. Super fast (5 minutes). And they eventhrew in an extra piece of snapper accidentally cooked for free (after asking). Read more

I'm visiting from out of province, but really wanted to try this place. I ordered online and raced in to pick up (my dog was... in the car). The young woman who "served" me (handed me the order that I paid for online), said "nice tip". I didn't hear her,and as she walked away I asked "pardon"? So she shouted from the back, NICE TIP! For what it's worth I generally am a generoustipper, but was in a big rush, and worried about my dog sitting in the car. I had paid online, and usually get a prompt askingabout tip, but this time I didn't. Doesn't matter, I won't be back, and I won't recommend it to anyone I know either. Embarrassing your customers isn't a good business practice. Read more

I ordered take out fish and chips. I had to ask for a fork and the woman there grabbed an unwrapped plastic fork by the tines... and handed it to me. A bit unhygienic to say the least. There was also no salt or ketchup in the bag for the chips. Made forsome bland chips indeed. In spite of those couple of problems I'm still giving it 4 stars because the fish was fantastic. I meanreally good. Nice dense, flavourful cod in a perfectly spiced batter. Fantastic. Just bring your own fork and ask for salt andketchup if you're heading to the park for lunch. Read more

As a long time customer, it saddens me to say that the quality of the product found in store has definitely declined over the... past few years. I recently bought a bunch of ling cod and was assured it was fresh! It definitely was not. Everything seemsto be frozen there these days. The only reason my review isn't a single star is the young lady who served me was very nice anddid a good job. Read more

Cannot go wrong w/some yummy and fresh fish and chips. Friendly and simple service. For Dine-in there are only 3 tables, so I... am guessing most people grab take-out. Read more

We love this place when we visit Nanaimo and can see why it's become such a staple.in the community. With fresh (even live)... seafood that is sustainably and locally caught, plus a huge variety of frozen and prepared foods, sauces, and more, you can't gowrong if you're planning a special dinner. Their fish and chips is delicious, too! The staff was super friendly and helpful. Read more
