Via Mare is worth trying. Each of the dishes we ordered was unique. I would argue that each of them was maybe one layer too... complex, but it was definitely interesting. Wine list was solid. Service was VERY good. My biggest beef is that there's zeroparking near the restaurant. (It took us 20 min to find a space.) The restaurant might consider offering a secured parkingspace as part of a dinner booking for a surcharge. Just a thought. Read more

Should've known this wasn't the right spot for a nightcap following a PHENOMENAL dinner at Dune across the street. In search of... one last spot to experience while on the Island, my husband and I agreed to a cocktail at Via Mare before retiring to our innfor the evening. We ordered two chocolate martinis and the bartender stared at us blankly, told us he didn't have those, anddidn't offer anything else. My husband ordered a dirty martini and myself, a Cosmo. His martini was mediocre at best and myCosmo served fuchsia in color. Abruptly, the bar stopped serving without offering any patrons another drink - which was probablyfor the best. The interior was lovely but the service left much to be desired. Do not waste your time here at ahotel-bar-Nantucket-wannabe establishment. Read more

On island for Christmas Stroll. My friend and I were so excited to see the Greydon House and get a drink at Via Mare, so we came... in early for a chance to sit at the bar. We waited a half hour along with a handful of other people. When the hostess finallywelcomed us in, the bartender stopped us from sitting and tersely told us that all the bar stools were “reserved” and that,if we sit down, we had to get out in fifteen minutes. I’ve never heard of a bar reserving seats in my life. When someone askedhow they could reserve seat in the future, the bartender muttered something about needing to text him on his cell phone to get aseat. If this is really how the Greyson House operates, I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon. Why would I need the phonenumber of one of the bartenders to sit at the Greydon House bar? The experience was awkward to say the least. It’s a shamebecause the hostesses and wait staff were lovely. The ambiance was truly one-of-kind. What food I sampled was positively divine. The drinks were subpar…but that might have just been our bartender. Read more

One star for atmosphere. Unfortuantely, the food was terrible. The Brussel sprouts were drenched in salt and sauce. The cod was... straight salt. The lamb was unlike any lamb I have had (and would prefer to never have again.) The hot chicken morracan pancakeslacked flavor. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and we are sorry we wasted an evening here. Read more

I normally don’t walk out of an eatery due to how bad the food is, but Via Mare was the exception. I ordered a breakfast... sandwich (14 dollars btw) and the bread was STALE and tasted like it was bulk ordered. The cheese used was a cheap Americancheese and the eggs were not seasoned. I’ve had a more gourmet experience at a Dunkin’ Donuts than Via Mare. Do yourself afavor, walk up the street and get a better meal somewhere else. The server didn’t even ask why the sandwich was left basicallyuneaten. Coffee isn’t bad tho. Read more

Great restaurant where everything is small plates so a lot of variety. The cauliflower is to die for has anisette sprinkled on... top. There are some unbelievable tastes in every dish. Must try. Read more

We had an AMAZING meal at Via Mare. We went during covid which from our experience usually makes service and experience so much... worse. This was not the case with Via Mare. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about the food and wine list, and we endedup with a very unique bottle of Cab Franc that we would have never picked on our own. The food itself was fantastic. We startedwith oysters, bruschetta, bacala and calamari. All were incredible. I do have to say that the calamari was a bit salty and ahuge serving, I would forgo this in the future and focus on all the other amazing dishes. The oysters were the best we’ve had.We followed with the shrimp and corn pasta dish which was out of this world. It was a cream dish but felt light and fresh. Eventhough we were full at this point, we ordered the chicken Milanese because we wanted to keep trying the food... it wasdelicious. It was almost like a bao. This was also fried and a bit salty though. Ambiance was lovely, playlist was phenomenal.By far our favorite meal on the island so far. No idea why there are some terrible reviews.... we are city people and have apretty high expectation, don’t let these reviews steer you away! Read more
