My husband and I visited in May 2022. We both had the vegetable tasting menu with wine pairing. It was amazing. They were able... to accommodate some dietary restrictions. Tonight’s dinner at La Toque can only be described as unbelievably exquisite. Every single dish was delightful. The white... asparagus was perfectly paired with a bacon shallot jam which was an incredible flavor, and one which I would love to learn howto recreate. The A4 wagyu beef from Kagoshima Prefecture was an explosion of flavor and simply out of this world. It had usgoing “mmm” with every bite. It was truly worth every dollar. Seriously! Very often, duck has a strong gamey taste, buttheir duck breast was a surprising delight with its flavor and firm yet moist meat and lightly crispy skin. The duck jus thatcame with the dish just enhanced the taste perfectly. Their poached Alaskan halibut was cooked so well that we could trulyappreciate its delicate taste and texture. Lastly, but certainly not the least, was our dessert. We had the Chocolate HazelnutDacquoise with Chocolate Amaretto Ice Cream. Oh.My.Word! I don’t remember the last time we ever had such a perfect dessert.And one that we do wish came in a larger portion. And the service. From the time I received a call to confirm my reservation andcheck for allergies, till the time we left, service was nothing short of wonderful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Ourwait staff were extremely helpful, attentive and warm. I was worried when I read the bad reviews on Google, and I don’tunderstand the negative comments. The quality of the food was exceptional. The chef certainly knows what he’s doing, and thestaff definitely know how to provide great service. The only complain I do have is about the cushions on the patio chairs. Theyare too thin. I would have expected a restaurant like this to be meticulous about every detail in the restaurant. You’re nothaving a quick bite here, and you want to be seated comfortably for a couple of hours. Brian is pretty much my hero! He helped me move my reservation more than a couple of times, and accommodate a table of 7ppl on a... Saturday at 7:30 now I suppose don't expect him to do this all the time but the 5 stars are for his attitude, kindness,professionalism, and willing to look into it, for the excellence of our server and for that truffle sandwiches omg! Everything about this restaurant is 5 stars. The food, service, decor are all superb. Reservations are definitely recommended... and they are not only mindful of dietary restrictions, but also other dietary preferences, like not wanting a certainingredient, which makes the experience that much better. The vegetarian treating menu is amazing and all the dishes in it tastegreat. Special mention for the Winter Vegetable "Cassoulet" which is the best dish on the menu. Overall, this is a Michelin Starrestaurant that you should not miss when in Napa. Read more
We went for their annual truffle dinner - I know (black) truffles are a delicate / subtle flavor..... But every dish was... essentially bland or very boring. The steak was also dry. For $647 for two people (without drinks!), I expected a lot more. Ifthe bill was only a quarter as expensive, I still wouldn't increase my rating to 3 stars. Sorry. Staff were nice and friendly,but that only takes a restaurant so far. I can't believe they have a Michelin star to be honest. Read more
The food and service were excellent. I dined with dietary restrictions, which were accommodated beautifully. My only (minor)... criticism is that the pours on the wine pairing were light, and while I wasn't denied more when I asked, I also wasn't offeredextra.
