Overall, City Tap House Penn Quarter is a decent place to eat and drink. They have a good local beer list and the food was good.... Our server was kind and attentive, but the service was slow. It took about 10 minutes for us to receive waters, and another 10minutes for our server to take our order. I understand this is Washington, D.C., but the menu items, especially the eggs andkielbasa, were extremely overpriced. Two eggs and two kielbasa pictured in my review cost $8. I thought that the portions wouldbe larger. The brussel sprout portion was a slight improvement, but not much. The food was good but took about 20-30 minutes toprepare. The eggs and kielbasa were basic but the brussel sprouts had a nice flavor to them. I think I would eat here again ifI returned during a weeknight and if the prices were more commensurate to the portions. Unfortunately, our first experience here was not the best, which is due entirely to the service. A restaurant's proficiency... isn't demonstrated by how busy they can get (and they were PACKED), but instead by how they manage that busyness. It wasplagued from the start when we asked the hostess if there were any tables available and she handed us a menu, pointed, and toldus we could check "over there" to see. Not a big deal but a bit unprofessional. It's our server that holds the most blame, whowas preoccupied and impersonal. It took forever for him to even come by and take our drink order. Another forever goes by andhe finally comes back, but not with our drinks. Instead, he asks us if we'd decided on our drink order. It felt more like aparody at that point. That being said we WILL be going back to give it another go, if nothing else to try those 10 SpiceChicken Wings. And their (multi-page) beer menu boasts an impressive selection of IPAs, Lagers, and Stouts, oh my! Read more
The City Tap House is an excellent choice for a dinner! The host was exceptionally attentive and polite- he would assist each... guest walking in and keep an eye on the tables. The pizza and wings really hit a craving for the combination. The wings are notbreaded but have a tasty dry rub of various spices that are mild. Try them with a dip of ranch and blue cheese ! As for thepizza, the Four Fathers features a meat lover's special- from pepperoni, Italian sausage and bacon to a balance of tomato andonion. In terms of drinks, the honeysuckle mule is a dangerous delight! It's a delicious drink that could leave you tempted foranother glass. Overall, I highly recommend the City Tap House! The server was nice and we didn't have to wait too long for our orders. These are pictures of the Cuban. It was pretty bad...... The pork tasted and looked like it had been in the fridge for a week. But we were starving and didn't want to wait 45 mins forthe yardhouse. I would wait and save your money. Went for lunch after being told it was a great place to eat... I was very disappointed! While the food as you can see presents... well the taste on the other hand is nothing special. The Ahi I felt was cut a bit thick and the sauce tasted like jar buffalosauce, the mussels smelled when brought to the table, I tried a few but they tasted dirty, and the margarita I ordered had themost tart(est) mix I've ever had, I needed to add pineapple juice to cut the tartness. A plus is the atmosphere and our waitresswas cool, and the location is close to shopping, however I do not think I will be returning at least no time soon. Read more
I was disappointed after reading good review on this place. Next time, I would go to Yard House over here. The beers were great!... The pretzel app was really good, but the Brussels sprouts were actually good and the fried cauliflower Buffalo overpowered theoverall dish and it wasn’t good. We came in late in the night around 10:30pm after not being able to find any available or open restaurants on a Friday night and... we were able to be seated right away! We are so glad we found this place. The music was great & we had fast service. I orderedthe Caesar salad with added avocado. The crostini with it was such good addition and the salad was honestly perfect. It was sodelicious, it was one of the best Caesar salads I’ve had. I could eat that all the time lol. The only thing I didn’t likewas the added cost of the avocado was $2 and they gave us maybe 1/8th of an avocado but other than that it was great. We alsoshared a dessert, we had the skillet cookie with vanilla ice cream and it was amazing! The prices were great as well and veryaffordable. I would highly recommend it here! Read more
The company I work for used this place for a happy hour event after work. The staff was young but they were so professional. I... was impressed. All the food was awesome. Place was packed but even with that we didn't feel cramped. Great atmosphere. ???? Read more
