My friends and I had a great time at brunch at Halfsmoke in November 2022. Most of us opted to take advantage of their... bottomless mimosas option. Our favorites were probably the pineapple and blueberry. And those mimosas were strong. Plus, theykept bringing us more mimosa pitchers well after the official 90-minute time limit had passed. Much appreciated :-) The food waspretty good -- nothing special but decent-sized portions and the price was right. I got the bad and boujee; the poached eggswere good but I thought they could have been a little more generous with the avocado and bacon. But let's be honest: we werethere for the mimosas. Service was quite good. Our server checked in on us repeatedly and had a terrific attitude. I'd certainlyconsider returning if I were in the mood for another boozy brunch. Read more

The atmosphere was fun, young college crowd. The service and beer were great. My "Dave Chapelle " chicken sausage was a little... disappointing. They cut the link in half, length wise. I couldn't enjoy it like i wanted to. ??????????????????? Read more

The breakfast sandwiches are so good. Definitely get a mimosa flight with it - they also have cocktail flights. The Cinnamon... Toast Crunch French toast is also great. Read more

absolute NO ; service was terrible & i would not recommend . it took forever for food to come out & when it did they were still... missing items. I then waited about 20 mins for the remainder of my meal that of which were EGGS (which takes two seconds) Theygave plastic knives and forks , forgot cups for the water and did not care to check on us. The funnel cake did not taste likefunnel cake nor was there any powered sugar. The busboy was more attentive than our actual waiter. Please save your money and donot come here ; I am extremely disappointed. Read more

So I stopped by this place with a friend of mine for brunch. There are intimate seating options as well as a wrap around bar. I... ordered a W.A.P. which includes a 2 crab bites, blackened shrimp, a old bay potato hash, poached egg, arugula, and lemon chiveaioli. Mine came topped with ranch dressing. The crab bites were very well seasoned and the potatoes cooked perfectly. Theservice and make times were pretty impressive. Great place for a quick lunch or a afternoon with your friends. Read more

This is a great location!! Highly recommend. The only con was the reservation system but that comes with technology. There will... be glitches sometimes. Other than that, I loved the atmosphere, the music, the service, and the food. I ordered the "oh, youfancy" which was the shrimp and grits. It was a bit runnier than I like but the flavor made up for it. My friends ordered thesteak and eggs meal and the eggs and home fries. I'm don't recall what the name was on the menu cause the mimosas were onpoint!!! Read more

This place has a very extensive menu. Mostly people go for the bottomless mimosas so saying that the food is OK. I saw a few... dishes that looked good. I Ordered the sausage lovers hash but the potatoes tasted reheated or just not fresh. I would avoid thehash potatoes if possible the rest was decent. There is a 90 minute limit but it is not as much enforced unless it's busy and atable is needed. Read more

The name HalfSmoke, seems more like a local name for a Carryout, until you hear about the history of the name HalfSmoke. The... atmosphere was great and has potential, it’s setting is like a DC Social Cafe. The seating options are at the bar, table orprivate party area. The long wooden bench that connects two or three separate tables were unpleasant, due to the other guestswere constantly tilting the whole bench forward, (I recommend removing the bench). The music was Live, but too loud for a placewithout a dance floor, you can’t hardly hear the person in front of you. We were here doing Brunch, our entrées were smallportions sides not too full-filling but it was hot and flavorful. The drinks and the dessert were great. Our serving hoistwasn’t attentive at all, we had to constantly wait, search and reach out to him. Parking is only street parking, if you canfind a parking spaces available, but I highly recommend, parking at the nearby pay to park Howard University Hospital parkinglot next door or use the parking lot across the street from the restaurant.
