Delicious Afghan food! Loved the real candles and flowers. Beautiful decor. Great cocktail menu. We got their eggplant and... mushroom vegetarian dishes, their chicken signature dish, their shrimp dumplings, gram batter appetizer, and afghan vanilla icecream with rose water and pistachios to end. Lapis opened my palate to Afghan food. Who knew the best dumplings in DC would come from the Middle East! I recommend ordering a... few options so you can get a taste of the full menu. The highlight of my meal besides the dumpling (shrimp and beef) was thelamb shank. The meat was juicy and paired well with the basmati rice. Not picture was a selection of desserts. Flavorful food and attentive staff! I came here for a dinner with colleagues from out of town and the atmosphere was ideal for a... work meeting. The five of us sat outside where we had plenty of space and two heaters to keep warm in the evening chill ofearly-November. We ordered several dishes for the table and ate “family style” which was a great way to taste the differentdishes on the menu. We ordered the veggie dumplings, the shrimp dumplings, the eggplant, the carrots with dates, and a fewvarieties of lamb. The lamb was cooked perfectly and so tender you could cut it with a spoon.
