Flavorful food and attentive staff! I came here for a dinner with colleagues from out of town and the atmosphere was ideal for a... work meeting. The five of us sat outside where we had plenty of space and two heaters to keep warm in the evening chill ofearly-November. We ordered several dishes for the table and ate “family style” which was a great way to taste the differentdishes on the menu. We ordered the veggie dumplings, the shrimp dumplings, the eggplant, the carrots with dates, and a fewvarieties of lamb. The lamb was cooked perfectly and so tender you could cut it with a spoon. Overall great experience and Iwill be returning here again in the future. Read more

Such a lovely experience. The servers were all wonderful and friendly. The food was delicious. The lamb chops and the mantoo... classic are must eats. I was there for my birthday and was given a free dessert. Read more

Delicious Afghan food! Loved the real candles and flowers. Beautiful decor. Great cocktail menu. We got their eggplant and... mushroom vegetarian dishes, their chicken signature dish, their shrimp dumplings, gram batter appetizer, and afghan vanilla icecream with rose water and pistachios to end. Delicious! Went here for our first Afghan food and the staff helped explain everything to us and made recommendations for our... kids too. We ordered 4 things and they were all delicious. The restaurant is also beautiful inside, and I noticed the patio areawas also really nice. Read more

Lapis opened my palate to Afghan food. Who knew the best dumplings in DC would come from the Middle East! I recommend ordering a... few options so you can get a taste of the full menu. The highlight of my meal besides the dumpling (shrimp and beef) was thelamb shank. The meat was juicy and paired well with the basmati rice. Not picture was a selection of desserts. The vanilla icecream and almond cake is an iconic duo everyone must try! Read more

LOVED the decor and ambiance - and the food/drinks were spectacular, we would have ordered more but just couldn't keep... consuming! The spacing and vibes are relaxed but unique for DC. Drinks were tasty and novel - do try the Kabul Shandy(pictured)! We tried a few apps - the dumplings are unique - and their great, but we were blown away by the Lamb Shank, amongthe top few I ever had - the sauce is to die for. The great ingredients and slow/traditional cooking really shines and comesthrough at Lapis. Definitely worth a visit, we'll be back for sure! ig: @harshaeats Read more

Loved the ambiance of this restaurant. The brunch options were decent. The pancakes with rose and pistachios were BEAUTIFUL to... look at, but kind of dry and the garnish was inedible. Great selection of lattes! Read more

Liked the brunch special experience, the food was pretty good and homemade-tasting. The karayee was a little simple. The cafe... con leche was too sweet. Just a bit expensive for what it was and for some reason a 20% gratuity was included for our party of 2when we received our check. Probably wouldn't come back for the price. But decor is cute, service was friendly. Read more
