All too often I go out to eat in D.C. and feel like I’m just paying for the ambiance, and nothing else. That was NOT the case... with Republic Cantina! This restaurant is super cute with a “D.C. neighborhood/but am I in Mexico?” vibe. Our server was apure delight and the food was off the chain. The Chicken Fried Chicken, Taco Norteno, Tres Leches Cake… even the chips andsalsa…so yummy. And the prices had the nerve to be reasonable! This restaurant is now one of my top DC faves, and I can’twait to go back and bring others with me. 5++ stars! Read more

Really solid brunch at an affordable précis! I had their breakfast sandwich and others at my table talked highly of heir... breakfast tacos. Would recommend the indoor seating as it’s a bit crammed outside. Only critique was that service was a bitslow and we weren’t that impressed by their horchata latte. Read more

Started the day off with a Cap-brulee (breve cappuccino w/ cajeta & caramelized sugar crust). It was as delicious as the... description! Then followed it up with the breakfast tacos. The homemade flour tortillas elevate these tacos to another level. They are served individually and wrapped in tin foil. Highly recommend the Brisket/Egg and Chorizo/Egg (see attached pic). Read more

Republic Cantina is a convenient enough, affordable enough at happy hour place to swing through. We ordered spicy margaritas ($9... at happy hour) and one margarita beer float thing. The portions of the food at happy hour were comical. The four chip, clearlymelted in a toaster oven “nachos” felt like a middle schooler left at home in the summer had made them for us. While thequeso quantity was fine it confusingly was in a too deep dish to be easily consumed or shared and had chunks of meat the sizeyou’d expect on a kabob. Read more

Actual real Tex-Mex. The food is a little DC-ified (I made that word up) but it’s all very good. The atmosphere is incredible.... The music is great. The drinks are strong. The people who work there are very friendly. They did a lot to help the communityduring the early days of Covid. I know that doesn’t matter when looking for food reviews, but it does tell you what kind ofpeople they are. My fiancé and I sometimes get their queso and tortillas to go and then cook fajitas at home. I honestly lovethis place and would chain myself to the doors to stop them if they ever announced they were closing. I would love it if theymade a habanero queso…just a modest suggestion. Read more

Great decor! Kind of hidden off of New York Ave, love the vibes. I’m usually a tough critic as far as food but wow, 10 out of... 10. Could not find one thing wrong with the food. Had the brisket chili, nachos, and corn mac… all very very flavorful. Drinkswere great also! The icing on the cake was the service, Garr was very knowledgeable and personable. He had recommendations tolikings and dislikes. I will become their next regular customer, that’s how much I loved the experience. Read more

This place was pretty busy for brunch, of which we thankfully had a reservation and tried a bunch of stuff on the menu. The... coffee was creative and delicious, and so was the sandwich! Defiantly the best way to show my friends what Tex-mex cuisine is???? Read more

Went for happy hour (Outlaw Hour) and highly recommend! Agave margs are superb, I made sure to grab a side Modelo otherwise... I’d be going through the margs way too quick. There were only 4 of the Texas Style Nachos however they were delicious as well.Do yourself a favor and head to Republic Cantina as soon as you can! Read more
