Was looking for a vegan restaurant not far from the Washington Hilton and this one had very good ratings. Now I know why. ... Little basement place with a great selection of Indian plates. This place is wonderful. The atmosphere is gorgeous, The staff is so very sweet, and the food is delicious. There isn't a lot of... south Indian food where I live so finding this place was really exciting. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5, isbecause of the utensils, plates and cups were all disposable. This makes me sad because truly everything else in this place isperfect, it's just not a sustainable choice for dine in. If you are ordering out, I think it's fine, because it's no more wastethan normal take out. As for dietary restrictions, all of the food is vegetarian. Amazing place!! Being vegetarian, I'd definitely visit often if I stayed closer. Cleanliness 5/5 - Hand sanitizers are... available and they have plastic sheets between the tables and kitchen. Staff 5/5 - I've been here a couple of times and havealways received friendly and attentive service. Food 5/5 - We had the masala dosa, panner Tikka masala, and a mango last. Itall hit the spot!! I can hardly express how much I love this place...Vegz is an absolute delight, with its delicious and flavor-packed dishes and... super-casual and laid-back vibe! And, as if that wasn't enough to seal the deal, everything here is vegetarian, and there areplenty of vegan options as well! I first visited Vegz with a friend for dinner, and I admit that I wasn't expecting much when Ifirst walked into the tiny restaurant, tucked away in a basement in the middle of AdMo with only a few tables and plasticchairs. Despite its small size and relatively utilitarian furnishings, Vegz delivered both massive portions and flavor. Myfriend and I underestimated how large the portions would be (especially given how cheap everything was), so we ordered themasala dosa, dal makhani, and chole puri. It was way too much food for the two of us, but, thankfully, the leftovers tasted justas amazing the next day. The masala dosa is a classic for a reason. First of all, it's MASSIVE -- way bigger than any dosa I'veever seen, and it was absolutely delicious. The potatoes were fragrant, wonderfully spiced, and soft and hearty. They pairedwonderfully with the paper-thin and crispy dosa, as well as the super-flavorful sambal. Every now and then, I also dipped thedosa in the chickpeas from the chole puri or in the dal makhani, and it also paired wonderfully with both of those...it washonestly just so warm and comforting, and it soaked up the flavors of anything that it was dipped in. The chole puri and dalmakhani were also delicious! They were both packed with flavor, with the perfect balance of spices, and I really appreciatedthat both were dairy-free (and they were both so wonderfully rich and decadent that I definitely didn't miss the dairy at all).The chickpeas were definitely the highlight of the chole puri; I enjoyed the puffed bread that it came with, but it was a bittoo greasy for my preference.
