We have been on the wine tour 4 or 5 times and this is my absolute FAVORITE spot. I cannot say enough great things about it.... Love the atmosphere, the fruit wines, and the staff. I wish we loved closer! They even have a jam we love to get, Its called"Peach Habanero" and we have used it on everything. This place does not disappoint. A must try Read more

We hadn't been to Hilltop since 2018, and it was nice to come back. They've *really* expanded over the last four years: there's... tons of comfortable seating both inside and out. There's also an area with goats that kids can feed. The mead is absolutelydelicious. We got the 5-dollar flight, which had 8 communion cups with four different wines and four different meads. This wasnice to help those of us who didn't really know what we liked. I bought one bottle of pumpkin mead and one bottle of nativepersimmon mead. Love this place and can't wait to return! Read more

Such a fun spot. The staff were extremely kind and friendly. They could not do enough for us. On a 94+ degree day the covered... patio and ceiling fans were a treat. We enjoyed feeding the goats and were tempted to go berry picking but opted out because ofthe heat. Not really being mead drinkers we got a few tasters and they were very tasty. But we settled for the Sangria and thePeach wine. Both were delicious. Glad we stopped by. We would recommend this place to friends and family for sure. Read more

Off the beaten path and tucked on a pleasant hillside farm this spot offers some of the best mead in VA. TLDR: If you?re an... avid mead drinker then you have to make your way here and try it out. Matador, Jolly Dragon, and Voyage are the go to?s. Charcuterie boards are pricey at 55 but if gives you a lot and you keep the board. Atmosphere: It?s a farm, but the outsidesitting area and newly built deck offer a great view. The interior needs some updating as it hasn?t been touched in over 11years but still nice enough. Mead: This is why you go here. They make both traditional and fruited mead. The varying flavorshave grown over the past decade and they have an offering for everyone?s pallet. I personally enjoy the Matador. A classichoney mead with blood orange. Wine: They tend to be on the sweet side here. I?m not really a fan of their wines but if youlike dessert it?s a good choice they?ll have something for you. Staff: Most of the staff are great, they check on you fromtime to time and provide great service. If you?re not in the mood for a lengthy and louder conversation don?t engage with oneof the managers there. She?s pleasant and fun, but you will be socially trapped for a minute. In the end. We went home withover $200 of mead. I regularly visit this place each year to get a supply. I encourage you to do the same when you?re in thearea. Stop by flying fox winery for their table red near by. Read more

Happy that we stumbled upon this place on our way through town. I saw some photos of farm animals and "hill top" - and I figured... it was worth stopping. Animals are there and are very friendly - just like the staff. The Blueberry Melomel was some of thebest fruit wine I've ever had. And if that doesn't intrigue you, they have some delicious cheese and homemade oyster crackerswith one of the samplers. If it tells you anything, we ended up buying a couple of bottles of ones we tried, and the cheese. Ilike cheese. Apparently they now are able to ship the wine and meads to your door, so I'll probably be checking that out, too. Read more
