I have ordered take out two times from this establishment and I think they?re one of the better and more authentic Chinese... restaurants in the area. Here are the things I ordered and what I recommend or don?t recommend: 1/5 a thousand year egg andpork congee: I don?t recommend this item because it?s very bland. Anyone?s who?s ever had a thousand year egg knows a dish withthat ingredient should not be bland. I think they just throw ingredients into plain congee to make it which doesn?t allow forany of the flavours to infuse together. 4/5 fried rice w chicken and shrimp in 2 kinds of sauce: I?ve ordered this on twoseparate occasions and the second time was different from the first. The red sauce was not as red and paler than the first time.I don?t like it when my food is inconsistent 4/5 sweet and sour chicken w pineapple: this has been good the both times I?veordered it. ***one thing I would like changed is the onions. They need to remove the skin or first layer of the onion becauseit?s really hard/tough to eat. 5/5 sesame shrimp w mayo sauce: the first time I ordered it, it was good but I didn?t like theway the mayo was watered down. Second time, after I gave them feedback, they gave me the sauce on the side and I was veryhappy! 4/5 deep fried Chinese bread stick: hard to go wrong with this item. Brings lots of nostalgia when I eat it! Tasty,crunchy, but could use a bit more salt in my opinion. I would give them a shot if you haven?t already! This is my go to place for Chinese take out in Barrhaven. It has the staple Canadian Chinese foods like egg rolls, sweet and... sour pork and chicken balls. I prefer the Chinese dinner combos for more authentic Chinese dishes like the salted chicken(basically hainan chicken) and salt pepper pork. Portions are big, a dinner for 4 lasts 2 people usually 3-4 meals. You get adiscount if you pick up your order yourself. Ordered delivery three times and each time the food was exceptional. General Tao chicken is better than other Chinese... restaurants we?ve tried around Nepean. The egg rolls are savoury and meatier than most, the beef with Chinese greens had a nicegingery zip and the pepper squid was also excellent. Great takeout Chinese food. The selection, flavor, and quality of the dishes is comparable to what my family tends to eat in our... typical go-to Chinese restaurants. My parents tend to be very picky with quality and they love Brother Chiu's - that's how Iknow it's good ha. Salt and pepper pork/seafood (shrimp, squid) are my favorites, and they do them very well - crispy, salty,spicy, and nice, big pieces of meat and seafood. Their fried rice dishes are all cooked with the perfect amount of oil, so thatthe rice has that perfect texture, not mushy, not clumped. I could go on. Brother Chiu's have always been my go-to over the past couple years since my move to Ottawa. I've never physically visited this... restaurant, it has always been take-out via UberEats & DoorDash. Their quality is consistent, portion is generous, and is nextto the closest authentic Chinese food I can find in my area! What led me to leaving this review was because of the Boiled SpicyFish Filet I ordered tonight. I regularly used to order this traditional dish from Spicy Ho Ho, but recently noticed they nolonger include the clear noodles inside it. I called into this restaurant before placing my order and the girl confirmed theycould add it into the dish, while the other place pretty much said too bad. I?ve never finished the entire dish before becausethe portion is huge, but it?s actually SO good from this place that I will ONLY order it from here from now on! Was excited to try this place based on the great reviews and impressive menu selection. However, each dish was severely... under-seasoned (except for the awesome half fried chicken that came with its own dipping salt). I actually added a littlevegetable oil and sprinkled generous salt on the leftovers the next day?something I've never done before ever! My wife wonderedif maybe they ran out of chicken stock? Restaurant fried rice is typically on the greasy side but this one left a completely drybowl behind.
