We decided to try The Black Whale serves Fresh Seafood and more. We decided to give it a try and glad we did. We started by... being greeted by the friendly Hostess, outgoing and welcoming. She showed us to our seats and explained to us the waitress willbe right with us. Sure enough the waitress arrived a few minutes later to introduce herself. Professional and friendly, whiletaking our drink order. We decided on the Shrimp Cocktail & Raw Oysters for our appetizers. Freshly served and taste delicious. For the main dish I ordered the Baked Scrod with oven baked potatoes, and fresh garlic roasted green beans. Nicely prepared andtaste delicious. My daughter ordered the Baked Scollop wrapped in bacon, roasted corn, and veggies plate. Another amazingchoice, well prepared and delicious. When your in the mood for a beautiful dinner experience, I highly recommend The Black Whaleto you. Thanks to our waitress and staff for a wonderful evening with my daughter and you made it extra special. Read more

It was great! Loved the food and the staff was very friendly. My wife had the latin crusted salmon and I had the pan blackened... swordfish. Both were amazingly delicious. We will come back for sure. Read more

Great food. We live in Texas but come back to visit family and friends about once a year. We always have to get our seafood... fix while we're in town. I've had 4 cups of chowder this week since we can't get it where we live. I know, not healthy, but sogood. Today's chowder was one of my favorites so far. We also got fish and chips, sushi, mussels, and some clams casino. Allof it was good. The service was excellent. My only gripe would be that our sodas seemed a bit flat. Maybe their tank was justlow when we happened to be there. It was also a great view. Our kids enjoyed getting to see the fishing ships come and gothroughout lunch. Read more

It was our second dining experience at the Black Whale. The occasion was for my early birthday celebration. We had already been... here once before a few weekends ago and decide to come back because we really enjoyed our time there. Food is always flavorfuland amazing, service is exceptionally great and very pleasant. I invited my sister and her boyfriend here to celebrate with usand they live about an hour away and already plan on coming back. Eagerly awaiting our next dining experience. Read more

Really busy for 8:30 on a Wednesday night and took a few minutes until someone acknowledged us, but once we got our table for 5,... we enjoyed the ambiance and the food was excellent. Our server(Dante) was very knowledgeable and helpful with the orderingprocess. Definitely would go back if we ever travel to the area again. We had a great time and think you will to!! Read more

This place has been great over the years and has gotten even better. The boom boom shrimp was excellent as well as the clam... chowder and salmon meal. All were large portions. Martinis used to taste stronger, but the crowd has become more classy over theyears. Read more

I had the opportunity to have dinner at The Black Whale again on Monday, January 24 2022. This was only my second visit and the... prior visit was several years ago. The Black Whale is on the waterfront in New Bedford, near the ferry terminal. Parking isfree. If you are lucky enough to get a table by the window, you will be rewarded with seeing fishing boats tied up at thedocks. New Bedford is a working fishing port that brings in the most, in terms of value, seafood in the whole U.S., so expectfresh seafood at The Black Whale. The Black Whale has sushi, has a raw bar and of course serves seafood. If one is not aseafood person, they have steak and chicken. We were a group of seven. For appetizers, we ordered BOOM BOOM SHRIMP andTRUFFLED MUSHROOM FLATBREAD, along with one other appetizer. I am not a shellfish eater but the Boom Boom Shrimp was fantastic. The Mushroom Flatbread was very good too. The drinks that I sampled were the PAINKILLER, the FALL SANGRIA that had cinnamonsugar on the rim of the glass and the CHATEAU STE. MICHELLE REISLING. I can only comment on my entrée which was GRILLED NYSTEAK that had green beans and mac and cheese gratin as its sides. The steak was just as I ordered with garlic butter asopposed to blue cheese butter. The mac and cheese was very good though I would have liked a bit more cheese. I also sampledtwo desserts—Crème Brulée and Caramel Apple Crisp. The apple crisp was topped with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. Nevertasted or heard of cinnamon ice cream before but it was absolutely great. The apple crisp was quite good too. I love CrèmeBrulée and flan and the Crème Brulée did not disappoint. I cannot leave out the service but unfortunately, I cannot rememberthe name of our server but she was great. She was a tall young lady who teaches elementary school during the day and works as aserver in a restaurant in the evening. She was very helpful, pleasant and amiable. Our group was there to celebrate a bi Read more
