Tried Smithfield?s for the first time today, I think the portions are fair and it?s not too pricy, we got our food super fast.... Which is great. But sadly our food seemed to be very very undercooked. We ordered a combination platter with white meat and thebreast was bloody. We also ordered a chicken tender platter and the chicken fingers were tough and oddly chewy. The fries tastedold and were very light in color and so were the hush puppies. I saw other pictures were the fries and hush puppies looked a lotcrispier and golden. So sad! ???? Read more

Excellent service, good prices, clean and friendly. I grew up on Eastern NC barbecue, and this place feels like home. Not much... for the vegetarians, but if you're looking for authentic Eastern NC barbecue, this place is great. Read more

Fried chicken was tasty, tender, juicy and delicious. Baked beans were average. Warm, good tasting hush puppies. Pulled pork BBQ... was tangy and tasty as well. They gave me a lot of food despite other reviews saying otherwise. Overall enjoyable althoughhaving the sauces did not make much sense. Hush puppy dip? Smithfield's has been one of the three options for my family for years. The BBQ isn't drenched in the vinegar sauce, so some... can be added to your liking. The BBQ beans were great and flavorful. The fried chicken was good, but nothing to write homeabout. The shrimp were small, but flavorful. However, once you eat about 15 of the popcorn shrimp, it gets a bit salty. Read more

Haven't had Smithfields in newbern in awhile. Decided to get a regular BBQ plate for lunch. The serving of BBQ I got was... surprisingly a lot smaller compared to havelock or moreheads Smithfields.
