The hype to come here was pretty high!! Unfortunately, after visiting, it was somewhat of a let down. A group of us went for the... Sunday Fried Chicken dinner. We knew going in that from 5pm - 7pm that?s all that?s on the menu. Starter is a salad withranch Entree is all you can eat homemade fried chicken Sides are cream corn, mashed potatoes, green beans and cornbread Desertwas a peach cobbler? with vanilla ice cream all for $26.95 Two major issues was the service was atrocious!! Server wasbasically non existent. For some weird reason our table was neglected while others were being serviced. That was a headscratcher. Drinks were hardly ever filled and she RARELY came around at all. The second was the food. All of the sides came outcold. Generally, when I have sides like those they are at a minimum warm, and better yet hot! Not cold! That was a bummer. Thefried chicken was definitely well done! A little too well done, and looked nothing like the pics I have seen online. I onlygave two stars instead of one was due to the atmosphere. It?s a cool eatery in Gruene. Food was amazing, the service was amazing as well. Our server, Brynn greeted us as if we're family I felt welcomed in this... establishment. I ordered the burger which was nicely seasoned and was juicy as well. My friend ordered the River House Salad which they said it was fresh and it was full and had so many toppings. They mentioned they had tacos which was strange to mesince I thought it was a southern style restaurant. All in all I enjoyed the food and the experience at the restaurant 5 out of5 for me I will highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends. Read more

Ordered the hamburger and it was full of so much flavor! Cranberry Mimosa was nice and refreshing. Will definitely be back.
The restaurant's farmhouse ambience creates a feeling that you are eating a home cooked meal. These homey dishes have been... expertly elevated and far exceeded my expectations. Before this meal, I can't say that CFC (chicken fried chicken) is my firstgo to at a nice restaurant but this was the best rendition of this comfort food that I have ever had. The golden crumb of thebreading was light and crisp and the gravy was excellent. The green bean side was also prepared well and was seasoned nicely.Other members at the table had the special which was a steak with blue cheese topping (not pictured) and stated that their mealswere prepared perfectly. Dessert was the creme brulee which was excellent (sometimes restaurants will over torch the sugar andmake it burnt). Our waiter, Zack, was attentive and helpful and made the dinner that much more enjoyable. Despite this beingthe opening of Wuerst Fest and parking was crowded, this restaurant seems to do a good job of monitoring their parking spaces asthere were several open spots in their small lot. I'd definitely go back to this restaurant to try more dishes. Only blip forme is that they do not make cocktails and only sell beer and wine but this is more of a commentary on my own drinkingpreferences and I did enjoy the wine that we had with dinner. Cute place but overrated. My sister and I ordered the farm pasta. The veggies on mine were burnt and had a delicious roasted... flavor but hers weren't. Weird that it wasn't consistent. The "Toasted Baguette" wasn't toasted, just warmed - but not enoughbecause the inside was still frozen. We sent it back to be reheated and it was super quick which tells me they only microwavedit.
