I can't say enough about how much I love this place. They started the brewpub movement in MN a long time ago and they still... deliver some of the best food and beer in the scene, and certainly the best in the area. We really enjoyed ourselves. The bartender/ server was friendly and prompt at refilling our glasses. Inside was extremely small.... We made a reservation just in case, but we ended up not needing it. The place smelled of hops, and at some point, I will need tocome back and try the beer. I ordered the burger with Lettuce, pepper jack cheese, bacon, and the garlic mayo. I got a side ofgarlic mayo based on the reviews here, and I was sure glad I did. It was delicious. The food took a little longer than I thoughtit should have given the small number of people inside. When we did get the food, it was hot, and our orders wereaccurate. Thanks again. I will see you again... hopefully next time for a beer on the patio. Read more
Beers here are not really to my taste; the ones I tried were somewhat malt-forward. But they have a good variety, and the place... is nice. Good outdoor beer garden for good weather. I especially appreciated being able to try several of the beers; they do aflight of four for sampling, with generous pours. Read more
We picked a beautiful summer evening to visit and dine on the patio! The beers were refreshing but not as flavorful as other... local craft taps in the area. My son loved the kids cheeseburger, however the adult cheeseburger special was too dry. I ordereda sandwich custom as a wrap and it was great! Our server was attentive and a sweetheart! Read more
Really good food and pretty good beer, too. Barley John's is a great local place for decently crafted beer and really good pub... grub. Their garlic mayo on their BLT is absolutely dreamy! I would give them a five star review, but their space is in direneed of updates and expansion. The owner really should expand out back and out the side to increase the square footage, offeringthe patrons more space to sit in, more space for the kitchen staff, and much more needed space for the brewer. It's amazing thatthey're able to get anything done at all in how little space they have. Still, they are a must-stop destination for local beerand good food. Despite their size, it is a great place to eat and have a beer or two. But because of their size, don't besurprised if the wait time for your food is a little bit longer than you might like. I think the kitchen size inhibits theirability to deal with lunch/dinner rushes. I personally have had to wait up to an hour to get my food on some of the busier lunchhours during the summer. But your mileage may vary. Barley Johns is a cherished fixture in the New Brighton community by itsresidents and patrons ? I just wish the owners would continue to invest and expand in this hidden gem in our community. Rightnow it just seems like their only desire is to maintain status quo. And that is unfortunate.
