I've been coming to Capitol Lunch since I was a teenager, 1970's. The sauce on the dogs is Manna from heaven to me. We were... watching a prison movie, my Wife jokingly asked what my last meal would be. Cappy dogs of course! I can't report on anythingelse, because Capitol Lunch hot dogs are all I get. As for a beverage, Always ask for Avery's soda. A local soda maker. Read more

Got 2 hotdogs, fries and a burger. The hotdogs were ok. Plenty of meat sauce, but very skimpy on the other condiments. Fries... were good. The saddest cheeseburger I have ever eaten. Bun was squished, veggies tasted super soggy, and the beef was thin andtasteless. Really wish I would’ve just got one hotdog and that’s it. Read more

You have to get the dogs “up.” There is no other way. They really snap when you bite in. Quality is better than ever. As an... immigrant I find this American stuff outstanding. That combo of mustard, mustard, onions, and chili sauce are a cornicopious andimmaculate swirl of flavor and texture. Growing up in New Britain, you never even really gave a second thought to these hot doglegends, but now I know I am the luckiest girl in the world, in terms of hotdogs. Some people don’t even get to know CapitolLunch. I am truly blessed. Read more

Nice piece of nostalgia in New Britain. Friendly atmosphere....good food. The epitome of a m and pop shop still... standing....still loved by many. Coming from out of town I expected the chili dog to be better than what I have inBridgeport....but that definitely isn't the case imo. Good eats...but only great if you're from the New Britain area.....trustme....I get it. Read more

This is a favorite childhood place ? I got to bring my fiance here as I no longer live in CT. I was showing him my hometown n... with that comes along the good food. The famous sauce to me if I may say is a little different but it still will do. My financeeven bought a shirt for memories. He truly enjoyed the food n the people. Read more

Excellent hot dog, good service, love that they kept the inside decor the same. The place is a New Britain landmark, no reason... to change it. The sauce, I can't put my finger on it, but the current owners, at some point, must have changed the recipe, andin my opinion, not a change for the better. Slightly off from what I remember. Still a solid dog and worth a trip. Parking onMain St. can be a hassle, so parking in New Brite Plaza is a good option. Read more

Full disclosure that I went here consistently as a kid. It is one of those childhood memories that I am passing on to my son.... After being away for a solid period of time I went back the other day and I'm happy to report it hasn't changed a bit. It looksthe same, smells the same, and the food is still just as good. The sauce for the hot dogs is unique to this place and is a meatbased red sauce. I find that you'll either like it or you won't so ask to try some ahead of ordering. The hot dogs are amazingand have a nice 'snap' to them with every bite. The usual is with mustard, onion, and sauce but some leave off the mustard andthey're still as good. The rest of the food is good as well although we always go there for the dogs. Read more
