Went there wanting a roast pork sandwich, after seeing something that said why should Philly get all the praise for roast pork.... Well I was underwhelmed. It is a space you may dine in at but due to its popularity seats might be few and farbetween. Inside the storefront are many scents and flavors in the air beckoning you to reach deep and order much, as well as thepleasant din of eager patrons and those already enjoying their purchase. The aforementioned flavors are as good to the palletteas they were when 1st sniffed upon pulling into the parking area. Staff has always been great, and the food is normally spot on. . Last night however the family was a bit shocked. 3... cheesesteaks.,1 chicken cheesesteak, a order of fries 48$ later and it was less than mediocre. 3 steaks had Soggy tomatoes.. 1steak missing pickles and just no flavor... none. I finally had a chance to stop in at Ioannoni's last week- it had been on my foodie list for a few years. They didn't... disappoint. The place itself is a no-frills sandwich counter setup with several indoor tables and a few outdoor ones infront. They have a ton of different sandwiches- I wanted something different so I went with the Roast Pork Supremo with SharpProvolone and Broccoli Rabe- and I added their homemade hot peppers. The pork was juicy but the bread held up perfectly, keepinga crispy, chewy crust throughout. The sharp cheese, broccoli rabe, and homemade hots added a spicy, tangy flavor to thesandwich. I was pleased with my choice after the first bite.
