One of the best barbecue places in Connecticut Great atmosphere and great food, north Carolina style! Good barbecue is hard to... find around here, I prefer Texas & Memphis style myself but this place is still great, The outdoor area is fantastic, Plenty ofseating and fire pits. Absolutely terrible. I ordered a 6pc wings with blue cheese on the side, and a pulled pork sandwich - add cole slaw. The wings... were absolutely hammered and drier than than a paper towel. They definitely forgot about them in the fryer, or just have no ideahow to cook a wing. Blue cheese was missing. Pulled pork sandwich was bland as hell and the kitchen also neglected to put coleslaw on it. Put some salt on your pork, don't thoroughly mess up orders, and don't bother selling food 20 minutes before closeif your folks in the back are too busy closing up to do your menu justice. The place overall is great, the employee are helpful and friendly. The smell and the taste of the food is on point. The only... complaint would be the temperature of the meat. The pull pork and brisket were at room temperature. I will definitely eat atthis place again. Read more
?????? 1/2 I?ll give this place 3 1/2 stars. I did not eat in, therefore I will be speaking of the take out experience and food... on that basis. I ordered through Uber eats. So? The FOOD: It was ?okay?. I waited a few days before writing the review becauseI was torn. Like, the food was good but not great. I wanted to be great, I feel like it has the ability to be great. The meatwas flavorful but not smoked to perfection. Not the worst I?ve had but not the best. The Mac & cheese was surprisingly good andexceeded my expectations. The cornbread had a nice taste also. ???? Here is the kicker? All 3 items came together in my dish.Together it was very dry. The cornbread wasn?t fresh and I could tell but mixed the with Mac wasn?t bad at all. The meat wascold for whatever reason. A fork full of all three items (cornbread, Mac & Cheese, beef brisket) should have been heaven and itwas just ?okay?. I?m going to try them one more time because I know they can do better. Very good BBQ joint. Excellent one for the Northeast. Situated in a nice setting, a modern industrial park like, large parking... lot, lots of room for outdoor seating. Most of BBQ "things" are covered well, i.e. nice and tender brisket, falling off thebone ribs, smokey beans, tangy collar greens and cheesy mac. Decent beer list to accompany the protein. We like almosteverything this place could crank out, with one little gripe that its ribs was a tad on the dry side. A self service joint. Good for a large crowd. Nice and spacious seating area. Nachoooooooos!!!! Thank you Bear's for having the yelp elite crew come and try some thanksgiving nachos! The flavor combos were... off the hook. Blue Blanc and Rouge tortilla chips, topped with all your Thanksgiving favorites like a smoked turkey, stuffing,cheese, green onion.. Gravy and queso cheese was coming from fountains. My only wish is that they had more of the sweetpotatoes, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.. I barely got any of those three things I did get literally two noodles of mac andcheese.. but for what I tasted of the items that I wish there were more of, they tasted amazing!!!!!! It was really cool tosee that bears in New Haven has an outdoor patio which during the spring summer and fall is open and jamming with livebands. Full service bar! And of course all your barbecue favorites that you would find in Hartford, Windsor and South Windsorlocations One of my favorite things to try from bears is the burnt ends!!!! Which was not part of nachovember but I have toalways suggest the birthday and some of the best I've ever had!!!
