Two points on my visit I would like to address. First- $9.50 I was expecting a sub or large bread and just got a straight-up... sandwich that I could have made from Walmart for 4$ all store bought ingredients from what I saw. The turkey I got was slimy andmade the sandwich slide apart no matter how hard I tried to keep it together. Second the lettuce was just being pulled off aiceberg head so in my experiences you can't wash a whole head of lettuce without taking it apart, I may be mistaken but it seemslike washing lettuce is the bare minimum for serving it?. Let?s start with the bad first - didn?t seem to have the best system for staying on top of orders, the cashier wrote down my... order on a piece of paper that was never given to the cook (who was the owner) and as more people came flooding in, the morepanicked and unstable he became. He began asking what toppings people wanted on the food they ordered by yelling loudly at themand kept shouting for everyone to be patient even though everybody was as cool as a cucumber. He was even yelling at the cashiera bit. Despite having my toppings written down on the paper, AND verbally informing him in response to his shouting, my Italiansub still ended up not having a single topping. Now, in his defense.. it was right at the lunchtime rush and I think he justfelt a little overwhelmed being the only one making food so I don?t blame him. The cashier was incredibly nice and she told meabout how the owner wakes up every morning at 5am and starts preparing for the day doing almost everything by himself so Irespect that. He seemed like a cool guy before the rush came in too. I think I just caught him at a bad time. Also, despite nothaving a single topping on my sub - it was still pretty good! If this were a dine-in restaurant, it would get 1 star for the condition of the place; however, it's not and so all that matters... is the food and price. Tried the Reuben which was really good and piled high with corned beef. It was greasy, but that shouldbe expected. I give the sandwich itself 5 stars! The price is the only reason for the 4 star review - a soda and the sandwichwas $15. It's not absurd, but a side of chips/fries should be included for that cost in my opinion. Read more
Most of the time "hole in the wall" diners are the secret spots for great food. In this case not at all. The place was... disgusting. Very unclean. No mask, no gloves, dirty floors, crumbs and food particles everywhere, not just the counters..Thegentleman who made my food, im guessing "Bob", forgot to make my food so it wasn't ready for pick up. I?ve never ate here before and I don?t think I?ll be back. The Ruben itself doesn?t taste bad it?s just my bottom bread is... nothing but greasy mush and the sandwich kind off taste slimey . When ever I get a rueben from the Bronx deli or als famous deliI?ve never had that issue. The place was pretty dirty looking and no one was wearing a mask.
