Had a disappointing experience at Swiss Chalet tonight. Ordered the hot chicken festive special. The green beans were wildly... inconsistent. Half of them were warm, while the other half were ice cold like they just came out of the freezer. Not sure howthat happens on the same plate. Also the gravy that was served with my meal was lukewarm at best. Not so good for a hotchicken sandwich. To our server's credit she did bring out a hot side of gravy after I informed her of what was going on. Butat this point I had lost interest in my meal. To be fair the server did remove the cost of the green beans from my bill which Idid appreciate. Overall it was just disappointing to pay $20+ for lukewarm food. If you want to be charged full price for a cold dinner that took 45 minutes to find its way to your table then this is the... restaurant for you. Swiss Chalet is normally a pretty dependable bet with consistent food quality and fast service. So wecertainly didn't expect the experience we were treated to this evening. After 45 minutes of waiting and watching tables thatcame in well after us enjoying their meal, my wife walked into the kitchen to see about our order. It was brought out shortlyafter she asked. Cold. Of course the only way to know it was cold was to try it. Which I did. One bite of the chicken confirmedit was cold. So were the French fries as well as the normally steaming hot Chalet sauce. I left most of my dinner. When we triedto raise our concern with the server she said she had been at work since 10 in the morning. I'm not sure what that has to dowith food temperature. The real shock came when I asked for the bill. She said she could have discounted it but I had taken abite of the chicken so she couldn't. So there you go. Full price for a bun and a bite of cold chicken. Now I get everyone isworking harder due to staffing issues. But that does not explain what happened this evening. Our dinner was ready. We have eaten at Swiss Chalet In New Minas twice in the last 2 weeks. First time was Thanksgiving weekend. It was a 2 hour... wait for our meal and they ran out of all desserts. . Place wasn?t busy but just working short. Went back a week later and wewere told they had run out of salads, wraps, and soup at 4:30 pm. Waitress was extremely rude and reminded us several times shewas working by herself. That was not correct. We were not rushing her by any means. She never once came back to see if themeal was ok or if we needed anything. Brought the bill to us and made it quite known she was inconvenienced because we asked fordesert. We waited another 20 minutes for another server to bring our desert? she had no personality whatsoever and we won?t beback. Meal itself was good but we didn?t appreciate the attitude. Read more
So disappointing! I really wish Harvey's were open and Swiss Chalet closed. Harvey's is much better and also a bit cheaper. Got... the chicken sandwich since they didn't have the spicy one and it was bland. The Swiss Chalet sauce is just weird and unpleasant.It has the scent of something that might have a bit of spice to it, but it sorely disappoints. My husband got the bbq sandwichand couldn't finish it even though he was starving. It's ridiculously expensive for the quality. Read more
Went tonight for dinner. Ended up leaving before we had our order taken. I get there were only 2 servers, and as a server if 20... years I get that. However, stood at the door forever with no acknowledgement, then finally seated. Once seated we wait another10 minutes and nothing. Watching the 2 working, they were in no rush no at all. Like moving so deadass slow. And again noacknowledgement. All you have to do is acknowledge your guest. Not simply ignore. Won?t be back. Read more
Waited an hour for food. Waitress went to the back to see how much longer. Could hear her asking them to start our order.... Needless to say my husband and I left after that. Not to mention another table of 2-3 people came in after us, were served, andfinished within our 1 hour wait. Very disappointed in the service. Read more
Our order was half taken and rushed, once our order was finally taken and given to the kitchen we waited a half hour to be told... they were out of lettuce for our salads and had no potatoes for baked potatoes. The waitress waited until our meal was almostover to ask how everything was going and if we wanted refills of our water. They were busy and she was the only server on thefloor and at one point the manager had to come out and help. When my daughter asked for a certain food item from the kids menuit was assumed she was older, she's not even 12. She then asked for the menu to colour on and that's when the waitressquestioned her age. I had to tell her 3 times her age and then she walked off to get her the kids menu. We usually have a good experiences at the restaurant but we came in the evening of December 2nd and had a less than ideal... experience. Our orders taken in a timely manner, we received our drinks and appetizers quickly. But then it took forever toreceive our mains. It especially sucks when the 2 tables next to you, that arrived after you, have their orders served andcomplete before you receive yours and then your food is cold. No apology or acknowledgment from the wait staff. Read more
