At first walk-in, I was greeted with its lively atmosphere. Very friendly staff, totally worth making the reservations to get... promptly seated. The cocktail list had good variety with creative ingredients. Then came the food, right off the bat, theLechon, shrimp dumplings and cauliflower pakora were just filled with Unami favors. I was drooling at the end of each course. The steak, perfectly cooked with some tasty mushrooms, the sauce on it was in every bite which complimented the steak reallywell. Everything was juicy and filled with favor, was not let down. One disappointment was one of the sorbet noodle dessert, butoverall very lovely meal. Read more

This is one chill sorta swank place with bright, fresh, exceptional, creative and delicious food. I love going to places where... there is no way in hell I could recreate the menu... It's dynamite to feel and taste new flavor profiles and this place deliver.Cocktail menu is tight and venue is lovely. Kinda casual bougie. Kinda hipster. Kinda upscale tikki. Great vibe for a date orgirls vibe. Read more

This restaurant was amazing in all areas! I didn’t have a reservation, but the hostess was extremely kind and accommodating... and seated me at the chefs bar. The cocktail I ordered was well crafted, the dumplings were to die for, and the decor and cozyfeeling to the restaurant made the experience one of the best ever. Will dine here again when I’m back in NOLA! Read more

Had my first Mister Mao dining experience last night, which was also their one year anniversary. The place was packed and... service was on point. And the food just blew me away! We shared plates to taste as much as we could on the menu. The food wasFUN and delicious and adventurous, without being unapproachable. The drinks were so yummy too. I can't stop talking about it.Chef Sophina and team have an offering you don't want to miss. Read more

Phenomenal food with a very attentive staff. All around fantastic experience. Would recommend without hesitation. The... combinations were just so unique, it doesn’t feel like I possess heavy enough words to pass along just how creative and wellexecuted this menu is. The fact that it changes is even more of a testament to the skill in that kitchen and the attention todetail on the FOH side compliments that skill beautifully. Drinks were delicious! One of the best meals I have had in thiscity. The most creative meal in this city that I have experienced by far. Mister Mao is an answer to a collective cry forexceptional restaurant talent. It is places like this that make me wish I had the talent as a writer to convey just how much I loved my meal at Mister Mao. I... do not say this lightly, but my dinner there was probably the best meal I have ever eaten. We ordered a little bit ofeverything, and each thing that arrived was better than the last. I think the menu tends to change from night to night, but Irecommend the escargot Wellington, the fried chicken, the ginger salad, and the pork. The fried chicken in particular wasseasoned with such an interesting combination of spices (and…pineapple??) that I just about lost it right there at the table. There are influences from a variety of cuisines throughout the menu, including of course the American South and several regionsof Asia. The pictures I shared with this don’t capture much of it due to the mood lighting, but wow I simply cannot recommenda meal at Mister Mao emphatically enough. Read more
