It was okay, but there was two mistakes on a table for three, which is still not necessary a huge deal, mistakes happen, but the... real reason I give them 2 stars is honestly the steak was quite tough and chewy (seemed almost like tri tip), it was a weird bigsquare cut not a normal flat steak, ordered medium but it seemed more medium well, there was no perceptible marbling of fat inthe meat, and I hate to even mention price, but at $60 for a steak with no sides, I really expect a cut of meat that melts inyour mouth. Also some little seeming issues such as: I ordered a sprite, and busboys came by twice and filled it up with water, and then when I said it was sprite, they apologized but didn't bring another sprite, so I was left drinking a glass of halfwater half sprite. I ordered my steak add blue cheese but it didn't have that, then when I mentioned it to the waiter, he saidhe could bring a side of blue cheese, but the whole point is kind of for the blue cheese to be melted on the steak. So def someissues. I would not eat here again. Read more

The crab cake appetizer was bigger than I expected. I suggest the WHO DAT shrimp, as well. Outstanding filet topped with jumbo... lump crabmeat and sides of cream spinach and Mr. John?s famous Freddy Mac and Cheese. Their cheesecake topped with raspberriesis awesome, if you have room. Mr. John?s Steakhouse has a great red and white wine selection by the glass and bottle. Read more

Managed to get rid of the kids long enough to treat me and the missus to a fine meal. Didn't have a reservation, but they were... more than happy to seat us at the bar, which was fine because we were WAY under dressed. The bartender was very friendly, andmakes a pretty fantastic old fashioned. We ordered the WHO DAT shrimp, petite filets, French onion soup, turtle soup, sautéedmushrooms and au gratin potatoes. Bottom line - I've had better food, but I can't remember when. The shrimp were amazing, thefilet was so tender it didn't need a knife, the French onion soup was rich and cheesy, the mushrooms were some of the best I'veever had, and I'd take the au gratin potatoes here over grandma's. The worst part of my experience here was having to waddleback up to the hotel room afterwards for a nice lie down. 10/10 food, staff and ambiance. Read more

Fantastic steakhouse located right off St. Charles. I went with my fiancé for my birthday and we were treated very nicely from... the moment we walked in. Our servers Jimmie and server assistant Amie were outstanding. The food was on a whole other level!!The steak was prepared perfectly and was so tender. The apps were a very good portion and so flavorful. A little on the pricierside but so worth it. We will definitely be back again :) Read more

My wife and I were so looking forward to a wonderful experience at Mr. John's. I seriously think they ran into a problem with... their "Prime" cuts of steaks. We both ordered rib eyes, cooked medium. Although the flavor, (seasoning) was spot on, my steaklooked like it came from a cut rate grocery store. My steak was about 1/2" thick! it was served hot as it should be but itcontinued cooking on my plate until it was well done. I paid $48.00 for a horrible steak. Check out the photo. I expected anice steak house steak and got ripped off. Waiter screwed up our billing and put another couple's bill that was with us on ourbill. I found out when the guy thanked us. Spent $400.00 on a limo ride from Baton Rouge, $500.00 on a horrible steak dinnerand my tip to the driver after getting home. THAT was the last trip to this rip off place! Read more

I have eaten at my share of fine dining establishments in New Orleans and Mr. John's ranks right at the top of the list. Make... sure you make a reservation in advance as they are extremely busy. They restaurant treats you and your party like you are theironly customers. You have multiple servers, host and waiters that continue to tend to your every needs throughout your diningexperience. The food was amazing, the appetizers which were prepared perfectly and came out within minutes of us ordering them. Our entrées Surf and Turf and the Catch of the Day were two of the best entrées we have ever had. When you visit NewOrleans make sure you have this place on top of your dining list. Read more
