Food was cooked in old grease, chargrilled oysters nasty, bbq shrimp horrible. My niece says her grilled cheese was good, raw... oysters was good but small, ok now the service, I support black business and don?t mind spending my money but when you hire yourkids make sure there respectfully, and want to work, the service my family and I received from the cooks daughter from her beingdisrespectful, coming back to the table asking do my sister want ranch or if my brother need lettuce and tomato on his burger, fish and shrimp comes out before a child?s grilled cheese, not every one food came out at one time, some had to get there to gobecause the people who did receive their food was already done, out of a 8 adults and 1 child. 6 adults ate there 2 took there?sTogo. a lil more training or care must be put into place, it was my first And unfortunately my last I?ll never spend anotherpenny there. The best thing there was the music Read more

Our experience wasnt as great as expected. We are from MD here on a family trip. We read reviews and wanted to visit based soley... off what we read. We were a group of 11, so this could have been a factor, however, the place wasn't busy. Alot of the food, condiments, and drinks were forgotten. The food didnt come all at once, 2 or 3 people would get food then 15 minutes later 3more people got food, until there was one person waiting. Everyone else had eaten, but the last persons food never came out. Theplace wasn't busy (not to me) so it was a little weird to have such a delay. The food okay, but it didnt make up for the delayin service. I had high hopes for this establishment, but it fell short in the service area. Read more

Stopped in for snacks and a bit of AC to escape the hot day of home fest! And a welcome surprise as it is said unfussy seafood... and drinks. The owners -husband and wife stopped in several times to check on us and the service we received. I love the familyatmosphere of the staff. The wings were good but the oysters better. Stop here for a visit! Read more

If you live in New Orleans and you have not been to this restaurant, shame on you! It is hands-down one of the best restaurants... I?ve visited. Please do yourself a favor and order a red beans and rice to go! If you have any questions about what to orderplease ask Taasha! We enjoyed our experience here and will definitely come back! Interesting neighborhood hangout. It feels like that, with the vibe coming from the unadorned tables (both inside and out),... groups of folks hanging out, and the gambling machines in the corner. But the cooking is excellent, more fitting for a upscalerestaurant. Thank you, we really enjoyed the red fish. Maybe serve more than three asparagus? Girls, your service was fun, andyou really did nail the tequila sunrise Read more

Straight up flavor. Had the BBQ oysters plus red beans and were just great. If you're going to Jazz Fest, eat here instead.

A friend told me about this restaurant. Beautiful paintings inside & I loved the warm & welcoming energy of the bartender & our... waitress. Great service! We ordered the Bayou Oysters with spinach & parmesan. They are to die for! And that sauce, we werescooping it up with our bread. Make sure you order that! I ordered the New Orleans Classic which is red beans & rice with afried pork chop. The chop was fried super nice, seasoned well, but it was thin. I prefer mines to be thicker. I ordered a breadpudding for dessert to take home & wish I had asked for more sauce. Lol! It was delicious! I would definitely go back & trysomething else on the menu. Except for the Bayou Oyster & bread pudding since I would order that again! I also ordered a drink& though cannot recall exactly what it was, the drinks were good! Read more

The Half Shell on the Bayou was an "ouch" service experience at every dining level from the beverages to the bill,... surprisingly. Located on Bayou Rd. in a wonderful and culture present area, The Half Shell on the Bayou appeals as a niceafter-work bar with grill. The decor is pretty simple with a rustic look and gorgeous photos of African-Americans. The locationand restrooms were clean based on the high volume of traffic and appearance of being short-staffed. The waitress was notwelcoming or pleasant. My friend had what appeared to be a bug or some debris in her cocktail. She let the waiter know, to whichthe response was "okay." And left the very glass on our table the entire time we were there (a tid over 2 hours). No sympathy orurgency expressed. We were never informed that auto-gratuity would be added to our party of four. When two guests did not showup, I asked if they would us to downsize to a table for four, she declined. When closing out the bill, you do not receive anitemized receipt before you pay or after (I elected for the text receipt). It turns out that auto grat was added at 18% perperson on each individual bills. We tipped on top of that as we were not informed. There was a wait for food, which I alwaysaccept and empathize with. The kitchen has a small window which showed one person cooking during Jazz Fest. And so it took over30 minutes for two appetizers. Over an hour for a side salad. The crab cakes were delicious but not plated with appeal. Theshrimp pasta was plentiful in shrimp, only the sauce could be a tid thicker. It also had a nice flavor. The turkey burger wasvery moist and visually appealing. The BBQ shrimp was a bit pricey based on the quantity, and was given with charred toast andundertoasted toast. The various cocktails we ordered were really bad flavor wise. No issues regarding the wine. Overall, myself and a few in my party decided to not return to this location in the future. Read more
