The atmosphere is lovely. We sat on the back porch and it was definitely a good place to spend some time, which was fortunate... because spend some time we did. It took almost an hour to get our two mains. The server was attentive during that time andrefilled drinks but we weren?t really given any heads up about how slow everything would be. Went to Garvans for the first time and enjoyed the food and sitting in the garden area. The staff was friendly and attentive. ... Had one of the best shepherds pies. This one earns a jumpy thumbs up from me. Charm filled setting-see my pics! Get reservations please. Wonderful Bridget squeezed... us in, but you may not be so lucky. We sat outside on the breezy mesh enclosed porch and thoroughly enjoyed our meal chattingand watching the guests who chose to dine out under the trees, in what looked like a fairy garden with strung lights. My dinnerpartner said his duck was hands down the best restaurant-meal he?s ever eaten in the US. He?s a world traveler, that one! Mysurf and turf?s short rib was a delicious lie????? that rib is almost a foot long and the meat falls off the bone and melts inyour mouth after 37 hrs of cooking. The Happy Wife cocktail lived up to its name as I was quite happy with that heavenly elixir.Homemade apple pie made and delivered to the restaurant by the chef?s wife, halted all table conversation from me. The serversare all passionate as they describe the menu to guests at their tables. Result, you want everything the other tables are having, plus yours! Garvan personally visited each table and chatted with his guests. The experience on this restaurant was the closest can get to perfect . We dinner outside and they alow the dog to be with us.... The food was excellent, the price is just what I expected for this kind of place but the best part was the service. Waw. Whata great experience. Thank you, definitely will come back. Read more
Update: 3rd time coming here and as the last couple visits everything was delicious! Added a few more photos! This place is... absolutely phenomenal! I've come here twice now, once for my birthday on St Patrick's Day and once again for my mother'sbirthday. Both times the food and service was absolutely phenomenal. My first visit they had a special menu, and I had gottenthe corned beef (a seasonal item) and my wife had gotten the seafood trio. The second time I came with my whole family and wegot a number of dishes. For appetizers we got the spicy hummus, the stuffed mushrooms (highly recommend!), and the beetsalad. For entrées we got the chicken, the braised short rib, the scallops, the seafood trio, the salmon, and the duck breast!I personally had the duck breast and it was perfect! Highly recommend it! If you like whiskey this is one of the few places Iknow nearby that serve Middleton Very Rare! Overall I love coming here, definitely a special place with phenomenal food. Went for lunch and ordered the full Irish breakfast when we heard it was on the menu. Just perfect with fresh Guinness! For... dessert we shared the fabulous Banofi. If you've never had it, you don't know what you're missing - a perfect finish. Overallvery nice atmosphere in this historic home built in 1759. Friendly and attentive staff.
