The. Best. Ribs. Anywhere. Let's get this out of the way. No one really comes here for the iceberg lettuce salads, or the... small glasses (/w no free refills on pop/soda). They still don't take credit cards here, which is understandable as it can beexpensive for small businesses. You don't come for the plastic plates the food is served it (It used to be paper boats untilrecently!), nor the drab decorations and furniture in the building itself. You come for the ribs and chicken....and it's worthit. There are very few places that offer such large, meaty, juicy ribs that fall off the bone like the New Riegel Cafe...andeven fewer that offer them at such a reasonable price. The sauce is completely unique, it's not store bought BBQ junk in abottle, it's a garlic based blend of tangy deliciousness that is not found anywhere else. The ribs are slow cooked, and they'reboth meaty and scrumptious...these aren't the small spare ribs that other joints have. At about $11 for a regular order of ribsand fries, you can't go wrong. In my opinion they're best with extra sauce, and put a little on your fries too. The fries gowell with the sauce. I've eaten at a lot of "Famous for Ribs" places in my lifetime, and most are over-hyped and overpriced. The New Riegel Cafe can't be beat, the ribs are beyond compare and the price is more than fair.
