Spring Garden is an old school Chinese restaurant in New West. It's been a few years since I last visited and things don't look... like they've changed much. The interior is nothing to write home about... The walls could use a new paint job and the seatcovers are showing signs of much wear. But if that doesn't bother you, you can find some good eats here. Dropped by for dimsum. Free parking in the back. Don't be discouraged walking in through the back door. Some of the items we liked included thedeep fried sesame balls with black sesame filling. These came our hot and fresh and the black sesame was perfectly oozing whenwe bit into them. The beef brisket rice roll hot pot was also really good with tender beef brisket and a yummy sauce. A fewmisses were the pork bean curd wraps (the filling just seemed very different than I'm used to). Other items were pretty muchdown the middle like the spareribs, siu mai, prawn spring rolls and the chili wontons (which aren't very spicy). Read more

I have been ordering from SG for several years now on a regular basis. I done everything between a lunch meal for just myself to... ordering enough for a group of 15-20 during special get-togethers and family times. This is my "go to" Chinese restaurant in NewWest. Period. Full stop. I actually have friends who live more into Burnaby and Surrey, but still make the trek here. Doyourself a favour and try it out. I doubt that you will not be disappointed. Heard about this place through a local FB foodie group so we decided to try the dim sum and I think we found our new favorite... local spot. Service was great, food was fresh, portions were large, very tasty will be back - wish I took pics!! Definitelyworth a try. Read more

Great tasting Dim Sum! It has a more homemade vibe and taste to it than the other dim sums I've been to in Greater Vancouver.

Ordered take-out on May 1. Been going here on-and-off for the last few years and think the food is excellent. Cantonese style... for the most part. Order was the following; Beef Brisket Chow Mein (crispy noodle): Really tasty. Meat was tender and hadgood flavor. Noodles were done right and overall, was not greasy as some other restaurants can be. Dry Scallop Fried Rice: Nicely done. Well seasoned and not too oily. Honey-garlic Spareribs: As my spouse says, "Its addictive like crack". Pork isdeep fried with a good crisp and the sweet/garlic flavor is excellent. Pork and preserved egg congee: Good flavors in thecongee. Not too salty and the congee had a nice creamy texture to it. Hopefully when pandemic ends and the restrictions arelifted, we will go and eat in. The dim sum is excellent, with fairly large pieces and a good variety to choose from. Thedecor is mediocre, i.e. do not be surprised if you use the washroom. Staff are friendly and the food is prompt when afterordering. The prices for dimsum are on the high end side of things (6.50 a plate). I would not have an issue with this if the place was... modern and renoed. But it still looks like 1980 inside so i will have to knock off 1 star. I have had ever so slightly betterfood at golden swan but this quality here is good. Read more
