My friend and I visited this restaurant before and thought it to be nice. Today we had reservations for 6p but my friend was... stuck in traffic. So, during my wait I thought I'd order an appetizer. To my dismay, they would not serve me anything until myfriend arrived nothing that he had to take the order all at once. Although I never heard of this, I said ok....so then I askedfor some complimentary bread...they would not provide that either. I am so disgusted, I work so hard and thought this would be anice end of the day treat. My mistake. I decided to enjoy myself anyway because my girlfriend and I traveled a way to get hereand we try to make the best of every situation. We won't be coming back ...good thing our money spends anywhere! Delicious meal and very friendly service! We got the spaghetti alla chitarra with Italian sausage and paccheri alla vodka. Both... were fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. There was a nice outdoor heating area with plenty of options. Read more

My second visit. What more can I say? Some of the serving staff need to refresh their skills! They can't expect generous... gratuities unless they are delivering appropriate service. Read more

Made us wait more than 1.5 hours for our food and were very very rude to us. In the end when we asked for the check after 1.5... hours since we were tired of waiting, they were rude and one server said they weren`t a diner they were a restaurant and theother server said that in this restaurant they serve entrees after appetizers. I don't usually write bad reviews but thesepeople were very mean. Read more

The food was okay and the service was fast, both for taking the order, serving the food or even refilling the glasses. But if... you want to get a recommendation from their server that's not a place for you, I felt that he couldn't care less about it! Read more

Awesome Mother’s Day 2021 meal during the pandemic. The mother in question was very happy with the meal, the service and the... dessert. If you’re on the UES and fancy some fancy Italian, this place will work. They are usually open only for dinnerservice, but had Mother’s Day lunch available. We sat outside in one of those cozy structures. We will be back. Read more

They have BYOB Wed and Thu! Their service is impeccable and foods are delicious. For the pandemic era - you might wanna bring... your own blankie as their outdoor set up guarantee air ventilation but the heaters may not be enough on a cold day. I've fallenin love with their top notch service as well as the delicious food. I am going to be a regular here, especially as a wineenthusiast. Read more

We decided to go local for a "taste of Italy" and not to one of the establishments we frequent regularly. 83 1/2 has been around... for quite some time now and most of the reviews were on the plus side so we said let's give it a shot. We walked in and wereseated promptly, and the server poured us water and brought menus. He saw we brought our own bottle of wine so, there was noneed for the wine list. We sat for 15 minutes until we were able to get someone's attention to at least open the wine and tellus what specials that were available that night. It took another 10 minutes to get someone to take an order. We ordered thebaked clams, the pear and gorgonzola salad, an artichoke and the insalata di polpo. For entrees we ordered the pork chopspecial, the chicken Milanese, the veal chop and chicken scarpariello. So, in-spite of the slow service we were all hungryhoping that the food would make us forget the wait. Of the 3 appetizers the pear salad was the best, not great but good. Theclams looked really good, but they were swimming in liquid and were tasteless, the polpo was too chewy, that shouldn't happen.Of the entrees the pork chop was perfectly done, the chicken Milanese was as dry as cardboard and if I knew what cardboardtasted like.... the other 2 entrees not worth coming back for, the funniest part was they couldn't serve the correct plates toanyone at the table. Next time you go local there's at least 3 other very good Italian restaurants within a 2-block radius. Igave a 3 because it wasn't horrific, and I've had worse. · Read more
