A soft winter night, did a strolled to a walk for some warm oxtail Ragu, a recent add on from the new chef. Incredible flavors,... must have been simmering for days. The staff was wonderful. Will come back !! Read more

Walked in based off a recommendation from a friend. The staff was extremely helpful with the wine list and steered us in the... right direction with food. The highlights included the calamari, Milanese and the oxtail ragu. Don’t sleep on the crab toastwhich was an incredible bite! Interior design was great and will be back. Read more

Babs is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Food and cocktails are excellent, as is the wine list and just overall... ambiance. Couldn't recommend it highly enough, especially for a date or night out with friends. We had the crab toast, chickenmilanese, and swordfish. For drinks we had their manhattan and "the babs", which is a mezcal based drink. It was bright, andwell-balanced. We ordered one more to split! And then for wine, our server recommended the Que Pasa Orange which we wereskeptical about but ended up being really good and paired well with our dinner. All in all, a great neighborhood haunt with afriendly and welcoming wait staff, that's really good and super fun. Def recommend :) Read more

Weird experience. Asked the staff to pick a few options/recs for us, food was brought on the table without anyone's approval... except for a few plates. Ended up paying $1289 for 10 persons, which would be fine in a great restaurant, but this is not agreat restaurant. Small portions, very expensive and below-average wine (I am French...), and again, not being able to approvewhat's brought on the table is a shameful practice. Read more

My friend and I were walking around looking for a new restaurant to try and we happened upon Babs. We sat down, looked at the... menu, and realized that it just wasn’t for us. The food wasn’t our taste and the burger was $25. So we decided to leavebefore even taking a sip of water. I told the waiter that it just wasn’t for us and he said “we want you to like what youorder. It’s all good.” He was very kind and we left. While I was walking, maybe an venue away, the waiter and another staffmember chased me (I assumed I left something) and accused me of stealing two knives. I opened my bag and encouraged them to lookand even asked them “do people just steal knives?” They said yes, all the time. One waiter even looked in my bag, and founda laptop, one sock, a deck of monopoly deal, and some masks. The other waiter said he was uncomfortable looking through my bag. They said thank you and walked away, I said thank you, and the one waiter said “if you see any knives, let us know.” Theexperience left me really unsettled so I decided to go back to the restaurant and ask the manager what was going on. Was thisprotocol? When I approached, the waiters wouldn’t even look at me, and when I asked for a manager they asked me why? THEN themanager walked out and was incredible rude. Wouldn’t even look at me. I explained the situation and he asked me if I wanted arefund for a meal I didn’t order and then also said people steal cutlery and ramekins all the time. When I told him I didn’twant money, he said to not come back. What I wanted was an acknowledgement that this was unacceptable and I couldn’t even getthat. Don’t eat here, there are plenty of other amazing restaurants in NYC that have better table manners, food options, andwait staff. Attached is also a photo of the hostess covering the name of the restaurant when I tried to take a picture. Read more

This super cozy west village gem is absolutely lovely. We arrived early and had a choice of table, corner please. Cocktails... before dinner also lovely, try the Mezcal Martini. Half a sourdough followed by Beef tartare appetizer along with the amberjackcrudo. then straight into their signature Divorced Sea Bream and a burger with a marrow bone on top. Staff was wonderfullyattentive and charming. As the evening went on the crowd got a little more “sceny” but we were on our way. Tips: party nolarger than 4 people, best for 2. eat the specials ask about the menu, order a cocktail, dine early. Bar is too small to meetahead. Read more

Wow, what an absolute gem. Aside from the atmosphere, which feels like an underground european hideaway with beautiful people,... the service was impeccable and charming. The food was absolutely excellent - the way the chef (previous head of MIMI) deliversfrench basque is marvelous, it has the rich, full flavors without the heavy cream you expect from a french meal. Highlyrecommend the tagliatelle with clams, mustard (YES) and the stunning two-faced divorced sea bream (one tremendous sauce brushedon each half). Would absolutely return again with friends. Lovely cocktails to have outdoors when weather permits. Haven’t tried the food yet but details of decor is lovely.
