Very disappointed. I’ve been in the states for 10months and haven’t had Jamaican food. Imagine my excitement when I did a... google search n realized there is a J’can restaurant close to where I just moved????. The excitement didn’t last long. WhenI got home n started eating the jerk chicken, with each bite I took the less I wanted the food. All you taste is PEPPER, NOFLAVOR. Didn’t take me back home at all; I wanted to cry… just being away from your home country craving this for months tofinally get it and it’s just not hitting. Eating and your mouth is tingling is nice because I love spicy food, but spicywithout flavor makes no sense. The rice and peas and steamed cabbage is just okay. Maybe get someone who is an expert inJamaican cuisines, I could taste that the jerk seasoning was an authentic Jamaican/Caribbean brand, but the meal itself is waytoo tasteless to be a Jamaican dish. Yes, a lot of Jamaicans love spicy, but the spicy should be an add touch to the meal notthe makeup. The restaurant setup is lovely, the lady in the front is very pleasant and hospitable, music in the background wasnice… Just do better with the food. Read more
This place is so good it reminded me of a home cooked meal. The vibe, music, and coziness really makes this place special and... will make you wanting to come back for more. I ordered the Henny chicken which was the best I've had since I've moved to NY.With oxtail gravy on rice with a side of veggies. The only thing I regret is not ordering a drink :) Read more
Just ordered for Delivery. Evry plate came intact. I ordered oxtail and bbq wings. The oxtail has the perfect spiciness. The... wings was very very spicy but good. I recommend and will order again! I ORDERED AGAIN LIKE A WEEK AFTER! I'm pregnant, can'twait to give birth to actually go to the restaurant. Read more

A wonderful hole in the wall cafe! Reasonably priced coffee and espresso drinks, along with high quality and fresh baked goods.... Not hot foods yet (bacon, eggs, etc.), but a great spot to plant and get some work done or grab a coffee and pastry on the go!Gets supplies from small businesses around NYC such as Hamilton's Bakery. I ordered Snapper steamed, with rice and peas and mixed veggies. I don't think the fish they gave me was snapper. In addition it... tasted like they steamed it while it was still frozen so it didn't absorb any flavor. The texture was all wrong and it had astrong fish odor. I tried to cut it with the lime and lemon but in the end I couldn't eat it. The fried, ripe plantains werevery oily, tasted like they started it in cold oil. Overall disappointing Read more
