Visited Isla last night before a show. The staff was incredibly attentive. The food was delicious! We enjoyed the chips aioli,... broccoli, scallops and roasted chicken. And the strawberry pavlova was amazing. We look forward to our next visit! Read more
I got to enjoy Isla?s indoor dining space at Hotel Hendricks, located at 25 W 38th Street this past week, and no lie - this food... was some of the best I have had in my life - and that is saying a lot because I?ve eaten some delicious food. I was also fond ofthe interior. Isla manages to straddle the line between romance and chill ambiance making it a winner for all special occasions.The seating was airy enough to feel like you could have a one-on-one but close enough to enjoy the social nature of nightlife inNYC once again. The 1/2 Beau Soliel OYSTERS + Trout Roe + Cucumber Shallot Mignonette were unbelievably fresh and simple - notdragged down with too many heavy sauces or heavy oils dressing. I was able to appreciate the tenderness of the oyster. Notpictured was the Ahi Tuna Tartare + Calabrian Chiles + Avocado Yuzu Puree + Squid Ink Croquant (the croquant was the perfectvessel for the tartare with enough stability to support the heftiness of the tuna but enough give to provide a satisfying snapwhen you bit into it.) My favorite dish of the night (to my surprise) was the Roasted Salmon served with Grilled Escarole,Lemon, and Ikura. The fish was absolutely tender and had an umami quality that just hit every mark in terms of salt, fat, andflavor. The star of the show was the 14oz NY Strip Steak with Grilled Rapini and Coriander Peppercorn Jus - visually stunningas you can see in the photo. It had just the right amount of bite and tenderness, the grilled rapini was gorgeous and verymeaty. Lastly, I must share that the Medjool Date Cake with crème Fraiche, English toffee, and dulce de leche is the dessertyou must-have if you only have one during your visit. It is decadent and plays with textures like crunch, springy cake, andmelted cream. BUT- If you can have them all (have them all)! There is no way to order the wrong thing. Read more
Andres was amazing and the food is delicious, fresh, clean tasting and light. Idk how else to explain it. I enjoyed every... bite. We had the scallops, branzino, roasted broccoli and roasted escarole. For dessert the chocolate cake. We shared everythingamongst 3. Don?t hesitate and try this place. Soooooo goood! Read more
On November 23-24 I was staying at the Hendricks hotel at 25 38th Street in Manhattan. In the morning on the 24th, I was... working on one of my internet poetry portal in the lobby of the hotel, when I noticed the bar on my right opening. A very younggirl of 19-22 years old, was setting up chairs and testing the coffee machine. I asked for a double espresso and a shot of Irishwhiskey, feeling exhausted after a full night of hard work, only to hear that 'we are not open yet'. Feeling despot, I offereddouble pay, to only be humiliated further with another denial. It was time for me to leave the hotel anyway, so I went up to myroom to pack and an hour later came down the lobby again, asking for the same order... TO BE DECLINED AGAIN, BECAUSE THE YOUNGLADY JUST DIDN'T LIKE ME !!! I am an artist and an internet producer of 56, living in New York for 28 years, and while I wasdenied service in bars in NY before, BUT NEVER LIKE THIS !!! So, I am awarding this Isla enterprise a special award for - THEWORST SERVICE EVER IN A BAR IN NEW YORK. Read more
DELICIOUS food, lovely drinks? fantastic vibes,m and atmosphere and exceptional service. This place has premium vibes but the... the service is still exceptionally warm! Our waitress was amazing and super friendly and welcoming . I got an amazing appleBellini cocktail that I will always remember and I ordered the Black Sea bass which was yummy and perfectly crispy on thesurface, delicious and soft/flaky on the inside. Lovely service and ambience. Food was good albeit overpriced. Felt like the temperature was off. My levain bread was toasted but... cold so soggy. I was the only diner tonight so was surprised. Cocktail was good. Might just do cocktails and oysters next timeand have my meal elsewhere. Read more
