Very cute and cozy date spot in the East Village. They also have a great happy hour and the margarita hits! I love how they... decorated the inside. Flowers hanging from the ceiling really gets the mood right on date night. I came with some friends for afew apps and drinks. Love the queso fundido. Make a little wrap for yourself with the side tortillas they give you and throwsome salsa on there. So good. Read more

The waitress is the best waitress I have had the entire week in Manhattan (ask for Karen) We were a group of 10 and booked a... table early by phone. The atmosphere is friendly and good. We came in last minute and they were so welcoming and accommodated us! The drinks were great and we were recommended the chicken... enchiladas and wow they were astonishing. I can’t get over how delicious they were!!! The chips and salsa were wonderful too.They have pretty flowers hanging from the ceiling and it was a very cozy and dim-lit area. We loved it here. As you can see from all our reviews… we’ve been in a few Mexican restaurants… but absolutely nothing like La Contenta. We... got there and the first impression was it size!!! Super small, we went there on a Saturday brunch but it wasn’t crowded as wewere expecting. Someone greeted us and gave us a table right away. We had a torta cubana, pescado tacos, a Mexican coffee, avirgin michelada and churros (duuuhhh). I couldn’t understand how flavorful that torta was, it was amazing, all the flavorsbringing childhood memories from Mexico. The fish tacos were very fresh, it didn’t have the classic fishy taste, and thebatter was perfect. Churros also tasted like churros from back in Mexico city, we definitely have to go back for dinner. Andhere’s the thing, after aaaaaalllll of these Mexican restaurants all over NYC, I think we finally found our favorite, food,service and drinks were on point. Went with a couple girlfriends for my birthday. Small restaurant, tasty drinks and really good food. The staff is also really... nice and always had big smile on their face. The portions were small but we only got appetizers and were full (we each got ataco app and the nachos to share). I really like this place but would recommend going somewhere else if you have a big appetite Read more
Came here for brunch on the weekend, loved it! The food was amazing, drinks were strong & good, and the service was great! My... only complaint is the outdoor dining smelt like a public restroom. Of course we can’t always control what people do in the LESafter hours, but cleaning it before opening can help. Read more
