We ate at Le Zie this Saturday, before a performance at the Joyce Theater. We've been going to the Joyce Theater for decades,... but the restaurants that we favored, such as Miss Ruby's, are long gone. With Le Zie, we've again found a restaurant we can lookforward to. The food, service, and wine list were all excellent. One of us had calf's liver (it's a Venetian restaurant), theother a pappardelle special. Both were terrific, as was the octopus appetizer. My experience here was suboptimal. An 8:30pm reservation should be allowed to have a fine dining experience. By 9:50pm, near... the end of our meal, the entire restaurant, from our server to the front desk, to all of the other staff, started to clean upand remove glasses from other tables and store them in the area next to our table. It was clear that everyone wears to be otherrestaurant by 10 PM and it made our end of our meal extremely uncomfortable. I am so shocked and upset about how I was made tofeel to leave the restaurant. I came here because of the great reviews but the food, at least the food I ordered, was average at best. I've eaten Italian food... at some of the best restaurants in New York, New Jersey including Italy itself and although this restaurant is a favorite tosome, it's just okay. Nonetheless, the staff was absolutely great, the restaurant is kept in very good repair and the atmosphereis comfortable. Read more
Overpriced is an understatement for this restaurant... We chose this restaurant for our 18th anniversary dinner, for 2... reasons.. one, we wanted to try out a new restaurant and two, it was close to the Joyce Theater which was our nextdestination. The people and staff were friendly and warm BUT DON'T EVER ORDER THE 'DAY BOAT SCALLOPS'. I wish I had taken aphoto of the dish when it was served. There were 3 (THREE) small pieces of scallops with a sauce on top. And, this is a $38dish!!!!! Scallops are expensive, I know, cause I cook them at home from time to time. But, 3 pieces of scallops with sauce for$38? Mind blowing! That really put us in a bad mood! We finished dinner quickly and left the restaurant and went to another cafeto have a drink because we still had some time before the show at The Joyce. The show did lift up our spirits! Anyway, justwanted to put this out there for those who read reviews to make a decision...I don't know how the other dishes are, quantitywiseand qualitywise, if you do go to this restaurant don't order the scallops. I live in the same block, so I tried almost every restaurant around ( Loulou , Elmo, Momoya , westville and others ). By far... this is the best out there quality, authentic and price wise compared to others The grilled goat cheese nailed it, and mygrilled Bronzino was one of the best I ever tried I was shocked reading some comments regarding the price, donno where thosepeople are living honestly, the prices were reasonable and their lunch specials unbeatable $26 for 2 courses, that brought meback for 3rd time, enjoyed the food and the kind service Before hurting businesses with your harsh comments, think twice Thisplace deserves a shout out, Read more
I absolutely loved this place. They have a lovely outdoor, covered area to sit with beautiful flowers hanging down. The food is... spectacular. Some of the best pasta and risotto I've ever had. The pasta is fresh, made in house. The dishes are delicious andhearty without being too rich and heavy. This has easily become one of my favorite spots in NYC. Read more
Generally, food is really strong and wine selection is solid. Even though we made a reservation, the reception was not ideal,... having to tackle the host staff for a reasonably empty. Although the place filled up afterwards, it showed a clear preferencefor some reservations vs others. Overall, this is a problem because there are definitely good and bad areas for tables and youcan end up in a weird area that is empty. If you get a good table, this place is a very strong option.
