Momokawa reminded me Mc Donalds in Harlem!! Yes , is true! We went for dinner today at this place. 9:30pm the kitchen closed and... 9:40 they started to throw away garbages, a lot of garbages probably 20 bags right next to us !! The restaurant was half full ,they opened doors, became so cold inside and garbages non stop btwn the customers !! A lot of garbages!!! We spend 200$ for 1hour dinner, for to leave the place almost running .. Food 6/10 , prices $$$$ Ambience 6/10 , service 7/10 Garbages 10/10 Read more

I have been eating here for years. There are many ‘highly-rated’ Japanese restaurants in a ten block radius… I’ve tried... them all. But for the price, quality and freshness of seafood, Momokawa is tops. The menu has many options from appetizers, oysters, sushi, sashimi, omakase & shabu-shabu. Plus the sake & beer options compliment the authentic cuisine. The well-informedstaff are attentive & fun. You will have a great dinner & great evening here. Read more

The most authentic Japanese restaurant in NYC! I love their Skiyaki and Shabu Shabu yet their Sashimi and Shushi is also 5 star!... Food is consistently superb since 28th St. and their service is always good. The ambiance reminds me of my old town in Japan Iused to live. Read more

We had a good time at here having the Miyazaki beef from Japan. Mouth melting, disappears in a second in the mouth. They also... had a live soft shell crab which was so fresh and delicious. We will come back! Read more

Ordered Sukiyaki with Miyazaki beef for $175. When the sever brought the beef our first impression was they brought the wrong... order. But when we double check with the server, she is very confident this is the Miyazaki beef. Very disappointed, themarble, the taste, it’s not a prime beef. Felt being scammed!! Highly not recommend. Momokawa is recommended by the chef at yakitori toreinshi so I wanted to try it out. Their signature material is the wagyu beef,... and you can get it in a Don rice bowl, shabu shabu, or sukiyaki. They recommended the sukiyaki but personally I found the soysauce base to be too salty and it detracts from the flavors of the wagyu. Thus I would recommend the shabu shabu or the riceDon. The rice Don is salty as well but it is pretty affordable for some wagyu goodness. I would definitely recommend momokawa. One negative that prevents this place from being S tier is the service. Our waiter started to cook for us but never came back,we were left wondering if we are supposed to take it out and or wait for the waiter. Oysters were not good. Read more

My first sukiyaki and it blew me away starting with happy hour Oysters, followed by Negi-toro, salmon, and spicy scallop rolls... and ending with a US Prime Beef Rib-Eye Sukiyaki. Per the philosophy of the Chef/Owner Mie Okuda, “A great meal is not onethat just fills you up. A great meal is a journey that returns you to sources of pleasure you may have forgotten, taking you toplaces you haven’t been before.” Indeed this experience of a meal gave exactly that! Though not easy to find, but with alittle extra hunting, so worth it! Read more
