DO NOT COME HERE!!! They forced us to get a bottle of water then when one waiter finally gave us tap another took it away and... brought a bottle only to charge us ? $15. Then the waiter accused me of lying when I asked why this was done. They also chargedus $36 dollars for 2 shots of bad limoncello. The food was decent but we asked to split to items and they clearly wanted to makeup the $ from our bar tab. Completely unacceptable and even got hostile when we questioned the bill. Read more

I love this place. It?s old school, strong cocktails, amazing seafood, traditional menu. And the team are wonderful.

Personal favorite. The maitre?d greets all with excellent service and attention. The bar is cozy and worthy of a drink in of... itself. The dining room is sprawling with table cloth and some of new york?s elite. Mostly salt and pepper hair w families. Nicedate spot and exquisite food. ?? Read more

DO NOT EAT HERE. This place is CRIMINAL. They charged me $8 for a tiny fountain soda and then an additional $8 for a refill. The... wait staff was rude. Save your money and go to Olive Garden? it will honestly probably taste better. Read more

Wonderful Old School Italian-American fine dining, white tablecloth, professional wait staff restaurant serving the food that... made Italian cuisine so popular in the US. My youngest moved in next door and we have wanted to try Nicolas. Glad we did, we'llbe back. The food is excellent. Don't eat all the delicious breads, wait for the scarpetto. We ordered an amazing Burrataappetizer special (think very creamy fresh mozzarella) with micro greens and marinated tomatoes. Wait for the table oil. Pastacourse was a hearty rigatoni special with veal meatballs. Finally the prime, a detectable lemony chicken Martino (off themenu, recommended by regulars, ASK.) I've never had such delicate chicken scallops... If you act like a regular they willtreat you like a regular. Three of us split the appetizer, pasta course and prime. Always clean plates for each course. It wasa perfect meal and only $40 per person with tax & tip. No alcohol. NYC has the best drinking water of any major city, period. This place is a lot bigger than you see from the street. Great bar, actual Maitre De (not just a young beautifulhostess), classy dining room with the wood paneling, white tables, white shirts & ties (maybe all older males but diverse withinthat group which indicates they were looking at diversity over 20 years ago. ). BUYER BEWARE! Had a decent meal at Nicola's. Veal parm is very good, pastas are OK. Problem is the dishonesty. Ordered 4... drinks with dinner. When the bill came I was shocked at the price (all well drinks, no high-end stuff). I'm a lifelong NY'erand am used to paying big $ for alcohol. I asked to see a cocktail menu to see if we were charged the correct amount and thewaiter said "is there a problem?" which was an odd response to my request to start. At any rate, he informed me that "there isno cocktail menu." To add insult to the situation, the checks are hand written so there is no automated print out of the drinkprices - seems a bit too convenient. I then approached the manager to ask how much each drink should have been but as soon as Iapproached the manager, the waiter ran over and cut in and answered for the manager (of course having knowledge of how much hearbitrarily charged us). The manager then turned his back and walked away, literally! Just feels dirty. We won't be comingback but a word to other patrons: don't be shy to ask up-front how much you are going to be charged! We took our children and we took our grandchildren when they were kids. Now they are grown and some are living in the City and we're taking them again. Simply wonderful...........and yes, the food isactually very good. We are so glad they are open again. We've been there 3 times in the last 2 weeks and keep bumping intopeople we've known forever Read more
