neat spot in east village for vegan chinese food! it features a small, compact interior with dim pink lights and a cute and hip... vibe. i made a reservation for a weekday dinner with my partner and it was a little crowded and loud given the small space. wegot 4 small plates and 1 noodle dish, which was a good amount for us, as we left full and satisfied. (** = highly recommend): -**dan dan noodles with beyond meat: the taste is a bit unique/different from traditional dan dan noodles (likely because theydon’t use peanuts), but the dish was really pleasant! noodles had a creamy and soft texture, though overall flavors were moremild, less bold than expected. - **steamed eggplant with pepper sauce: one of my favorite dishes; the eggplant is cookedperfectly— soft yet with a nice crunch before melting into your mouth. it’s a cold dish with distinct szechuan spices andflavor. - general tso’s mushroom: personally not my favorite dish; i felt there wasn’t much flavor beyond the sauce thoughit had a nice and crispy fried texture. - char siu bun: this dish was just okay, the flavors were a bit bland and not reallygiving. the texture of the bun itself wasn’t as soft as i would’ve preferred. - scallion pancake: pancakes were crispy andflavorful and the side dip offered a sweet kick to the otherwise savory dish. some of the dishes were definitely quitepricey/overpriced for the size, but i felt that the final price was overall pretty reasonable. all in all, i’d recommend thespot for the good ambience and vegan take on many classic szechuan / chinese dishes. Straight GAS Szechuan restaurant. One of the best not just vegetarian restaurants but Chinese restaurant in NYC hands-down. The... mapo tofu was my favorite, but the Dan Dan noodles were also crazy good. The sauces they make are just seasoned very well andcooked properly to let all they flavors out. I highly recommend those two, but everything is awesome. Read more

WOW! Delicious Chinese spicy cuisine cooked to perfection and served with friendliness and efficiency! My friend and made... reservations for ~4 PM dinner and started with the Fried Vegetable Dumplings which were crisped and veggies sautéed toperfection. The dipping sauce paired well too, idk the name of it. My friend ordered the Dan Dan Noodles and it was too spicyfor her but I tried them and loved the thicc noodles with the spicy flavors and brothy base. I ordered the Mapo Tofu withoutrice, but my bad, because it would have been good to have something absorb the delicious, spicy, heat of a broth. Plus weordered one other fried dish which I don't recall the name of but see pic to imagine how crispy, saucy and tasty it was. Pluswe were so impressed by the sir serving us who was literally filling up our water, mixing up our noodles, taking orders, seatingfellow patrons, dealing with food delivery app orders, and all with a smile and calm/collected attitude. You would think he wassome sort of happy octopus. The décor is mad red bc of the lighting so my IG pics aren't the best but idc bc the food wasbomb. Plus the music. Ya'll...the music was Chris Brown crooning he's only 17, Drake rapping about his woes, and Ye and Twistatelling us how they don't play enough music for the ladies. IYKYK. Read more

Can not recommend any higher! Flavors and texture of all the dishes was incredible. My meat-eating friend said he would convert... just for this. Dan Dan noodles were a showstopper, we ate it all within minutes. Also loved the wontons in chili oil. Mapo tofuwas painfully spicy but still worth it. Read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place thinking it wouldn't be so authentic being a modern and hip Chinese restaurant in East... Village. All the dishes were super delicious, especially the pea leaves with garlic hmmm so full of umami. A bit disappointedthey no longer offer the edamame nuggets, yam puffs and taro fries which we really wanted. Our favorite orders were definitelythe pea leaves, scallion pancakes, and the scallion style vegetables with bean curd. I personally enjoyed the crispy eggplant alot too just I had to eat it by myself as my husband can't have refined sugar thus was super stuffed. The wanton soup tasted abit too black peppery. Overall the experience was awesome and I look forward to coming back to try more dishes! Read more

For someone who normally doesn’t eat a lot of vegan food, I thought Spicy Moon was delicious. The flavors are great and all... the dishes were prepared really well. My favorites were the brussel sprouts and crispy eggplant. We had a large group and theywere also very accommodating and friendly. Read more
