Reminds me of a diner. You can find a little of everything on the menu. My husband had the french onion soup - he said it... tasted good and loved the cheese. I had the butternut squash soup which was the special. Definitely homemade. We split a cornbeef rueben which was good.. Read more

This place was okay! Really nothing special. We popped in here after my partner ran a race in Central Park and we just needed a... quick bite. It?s extremely extremely expensive and it was very difficult to find something that was less than $30 (after tax andtip). However I will say that the portions are big. The food was pretty decent diner food, but nothing special at all.Definitely won?t come back here but it?s ok if you?re around and need a bite I guess, just don?t expect it to be affordable justbecause it?s a diner. Café is part of the Beacon hotel and prices reflect that. If you?re a guest or tourist at the hotel, cafe is very convenient... and you are right on Broadway on the Upper West Side. If you?re a local and have the time, there are better options in thearea. Pros: You can sit outside and people watch. Servers were all very prompt and provided great service. Cons: the oldercouple that seem to be managers were quite rude to the waitress and host about placement of menus and made a big deal about itright in front of customers. They should do it elsewhere more discreetly and be nicer about it. I felt uncomfortable and askedto move outside. They also don?t post this but they charge you 3.5% for using credit card, which a lot of places are doing, butthis isn?t anywhere on the menu. I had the cheeseburger ???? and fries which were fine. I wouldn?t come back unless I?mabsolutely pressed for time and don?t have other options. Read more

Very friendly and attentive staff. Really big portions. The panini could easily be shared by two. Chiken souvlaki was terrific... (my fav) They have a large attractive outdoor terrace. Can't wait to go back. Read more

We came to Viand Cafe for our New Year Brunch in north side of Manhattan. We chose to seat outside to have some fresh air, and... sightseeing of people and NewYork lifestyle. It is a nice spot to have brunch. We ordered Salmon Egg Benedict, and Avocadotoast. The avocado tasted fresh and I liked my salmon too, and I wish I had them on toast instead of muffin. I didn?t like mylatte at all, and it felt like I am drinking milk. And one more thing that I didn?t like about was the waiter/waitress didn?tcheck in with us if we needed anything, but I don?t make crucial decision, they might be short staff and busy in that moment. My husband said we got anything we would expect from a diner: normal coffee, sandwiches, soups, entree, and pies. The blueberry... pie we ordered was okay, but definitely was not what we expected for almost eight dollars. The Turkey sandwich was kind ofplain, which was not what I expected from reading others recommendations. Maybe order real Turkey instead of sandwich meat nexttime? Overall, it was good as a diner if one wants to have a regular diner experience. Read more

We had a good experience at Viand Cafe. We decided to keep it simple and go with an omelette, a side of eggs and a bagel. The... omelette was well made and tasted really good. The side of eggs tasted fine. And finally, the bagel was fresh and toasted well. The service wasn?t great and it was a bit expensive for a diner however we did have a good meal. Four stars. Read more
