What a wonderful experience... We have been to the Barrel and Boar in Gahanna quite a few times so we found ourselves in... Newark. We really enjoyed brunch at their Newark location. The restaurant is quaint with that old building vibe. The service wasspot on - Abby is a rock star waitress. I had the Caroliner which is basically shrimp and grits with 2 fried eggs on top whichwas delicious. Wifie had the big breakfast which was unique but equally as delicious. This place is worthy of a return visit... Read more

This place is AMAZING from the time you walk in you are welcomed by friendly faces as well as the aroma of smoked food. We tried... several appetizers corn, grilled watermelon but the shrimp and grits were the stars of the evening. Nice portion great flavorprofiles nice size shrimp and plenty of sausage. My Husband got the barrel boar burger and I had the buttermilk chicken andveggies. Everything was great. Tim the G.M continued to check in on tables if your in the area do yourself a favor and stop in.You wont be disappointed Read more

Ordered a caesar salad and it arrived looking like this it was returned and taken off bill but how does this get served in a... restaurant.without cook or server thinking this doesn't look edible. It was explained to us that it is a cooked salad thst issuppose to be charred but restaurant doesn't have a boiler so salad cannot be cooked correctly. This is explained after it wasordered, placed and rejected by a customer and then admitting restaurant cannot cook the salad correctly but we will still slideit in front of a customer at a price $12-$15. Manager did explain due to the salad being returned so much Barrel and Boar willbe removing this from the menu and going back with the traditional ceasar salad... If someone had salad that looked like this intheir refrigerator they would throw it away. Unfortunatly any restaurant that would serve this salad and then provide theexcuse that was provided for why it was served like it was will not be open much longer without major changes. Read more

Stopped in for lunch, and everything was great. I ordered the brussel sprouts with sweet potatoes, pecans, cranberries and goat... cheese. They were awesome and could have been a meal on their own. I also got the cheesesteak made with burnt ends, and it wasabsolutely loaded with brisket. The collards were fine, and had a surprising amount of meat in them. I only wish my appetizerhad come out first, considering there was only one other customer in the restaurant at the time, but the server was apologeticabout that. Definitely won't stop me from going back. Read more

Went to Barrel and Boar downtown Newark on 3rd Street . When you walk in you smell the aroma of smoked meats .Definitely will... go back. The food is wonderful, the people were so friendly and helpful . The sweet tea was better than any I've had out. Nowsome people like super sweet. I do not. This tea was like if I had made it at home. Sweet but not too sweet. They have seatsfor every type of person. Weather you like tall seats, short seats, table or booth they have it all !! Read more

We were on a day trip from Powell... Once again I dove into my food before I took a picture. I promise it looked much more... appetizing before I started to chop it up! It was the "Burnt Ends" hash. It was VERY tasty! My wife had the meat Fritatta. Ourserver was amazing. We would definitely go back! Read more

This is a beautiful little location to grab some slow cooked meats. We started with the jalapeño corn bread, which was decent,... but had no spice or pepper flavor to them at all. Then we shared a Ohio BBQ Feast Family Style and that was excellent. It'sreally enough to feed 4 people and the presentation is splendid. Our favorite meat here was the sausage. Read more
