I booked a 2-night weekend stay as a wedding anniversary surprise for my wife of 59 years! Everything related to this stay was... outstanding - the beautiful comfortable spotless room, great helpful staff, and oh my ---- the food! We ate at Andrias Tableboth nights and were treated to some of the best food we've ever enjoyed even after eating in some of the highest ratedrestaurants all over the world. The 1st night we split a spring roll 1st course, and both had the lamb duo as main. The itemswere perfectly cooked and presentation 5 star ++ The portions were also more than ample so the 2nd night we skipped appetizer. On that night my wife enjoyed the beef duo, and I had the salmon special -- again both outstanding. The table was ours for theevening - no rush but just right attention. The breakfasts that were included with the room were equally delicious andcertainly ample. Inn owner Andria even stopped by to ensure we were comfortable and were enjoying our stay. I also treated mywife to a massage booked for us by the Inn which was also 5 star +. I can't say enough good about this experience simplyOUTSTANDING. Read more

The room was cozy even if a little outdated. Working gas fireplace was a big plus. However, the instructions on how to operate... the fireplace are very confusing. At the time of booking I specifically discussed the breakfast which is included in the priceand was promised a hot breakfast. In the morning we found the door of the building where the breakfast supposed to be servedlocked. Calling front desk and banging on the door did not help. I called emergency number and first was hanged up on, but aftersecond call and some additional waiting we were let in. There was no hot breakfast, only coffee and some pastries. Verydisappointing. This hotel was the only one I ever saw which doesn’t have any hairdryer in the room. Read more

Wow. I returned home to Newfane to celebrate the life of Monika Chardain this spring. Chef Andrea and her daughter Francesca... opened not only the Four Columns but also their hearts to us. The entire staff was professional, attentive and positive. Thegrounds were immaculate and in full bloom. Our breakfast each morning was fresh and exploding with flavor. The duck dinner Ienjoyed was 5 star and the wine selection that Francesca curated for our weekend was perfect. The rooms were sparkling clean, water pressure was excellent and the appointments were historical with a Vermont flair. I can't wait to return with my wife fora weekend get-away soon. Thank you Four Columns for helping us remember such a wonderful woman! Read more

Very enjoyable french inspired cuisine with a wine list that was just the right size. Though more shwanky than my usual haunts,... they did tagliatelle very well (I am a noodle reviewer afterall!), the owner was very lovely. Read more

Where to begin? There was no chef. The jacuzzi promised in every room was a lie. The best feature was the fire pit. Trails were... not maintained and the extra accommodations were a joke. Overpriced. Air BnB I recommend over this. The corner store that openedhas potential but my wife and I are never returning. Read more

Not sure where to start with this experience- I can’t figure out why the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. This place is... nothing like it was advertised to be. The website displayed a room with a full size functional fireplace, a rug and otheramenities. We initially arrived to discover the door to our building (“South Newfane” portion of the property) doesn’tclose. Upon walking into the room, we noticed the fireplace pictured wasn’t there, and instead a cheap looking fake fire pitwas in its place. The bed was hard and creaky. The shower handle didn’t work right, and the hot water lasted for no more thana minute. The shower head itself put out pathetic water pressure. The curtain drawstring was broken. On top of all that, ourneighbors had two kids that were running up and down the stairs slamming the doors since 6AM until past 8AM. We attempted tocontact the phone number given on the welcome sheet, but texts and calls do not go through. We waited until 8AM when the frontdesk supposedly would open, and nobody answered. We went over to the main building to discover nobody was manning it. This placewas advertised as a luxury inn but felt more like a glorified motel. The only positive part of this experience was that wereceived a refund for our stay, the breakfast was quite good, and the staff were friendly. For over $300 on a weekend nighthowever, it wasn’t worth it. Hopefully this review will encourage folks to take their hard-earned money elsewhere. Read more
