I had a Chicken Quesadilla and it was really delicious! Small place with a big heart.
The burritos are generally good, but everything else is hit or miss including an order of wings I got tonight that were made... with old borderline rotten chicken and were inedible as a result...and the customer service is terrible as others havementioned. The only person who is nice is the middle aged guy, probably the dad who owns the place, but the kids working theregister are completely miserable and make no effort to hide it. Read more
Just a little hole in the wall restaurant attached to a convenience store. Drove past it for years and thought nothing of it.... Don't let the looks fool you though, they have some of the best tacos in the area. Highly recommend their burritos (they arehuge), taco salad, and crunchy tacos. Regardless, their tacos and tostadas are 5 stars. 3 tacos, homemade crispy shells (a little over cooked) overstuffed with ground... beef and some fixins, red and green hot sauce, very good. My advice to the owners, when a customer walks in and sits down,acknowledge them, don't just sit at the cash register expecting them to know you're not going to walk the 5 feet to their table.Also, when you serve, serv with silver or plastic ware. Ramshackle hole in the wall adjoining a run down liquor shop. Looks like family run. The food was ok but nothing to really write... home about. I've had authentic Mexican food and it was more flavorful than this. I will say there is a nice heat level to thesandwiches and the green sauce that comes with the burrito is quite nice (I think it was a tomatolli cilantro sauce). When yougo in don't sit down and wait for table service just go up to the counter and order it you could be waiting awhile. Read more
My experience here was not the greatest and it is sad because the food was so good. (One of the best tacos ive had) The customer... service in the other hand was HORRIBLE. When you first walk in nobody greets you, they dont ask if you need anything, sit etc.The girl at the front desk is NOT a people person and honestly that could hurt a business immensely. I would never dine in againbecause it is soooo cold and you can tell they dont care about their customers. Hopefully they can change that and im sure theirbusiness will thrive. Read more
Unassuming little place in Newington. You might miss it driving by on Willard Ave. Nicolas has a pretty varied menu between... pizza and Mexican fare. Had Crunchy Tacos and Empanadas. First the good news, the crunchy tacos were fantastic!! Had chicken,beef, chorizo and steak. All four were perfect. If you're looking for good tacos this place is a great choice. Unfortunatelythe empanadas were seriously underseasoned and just bland with a fried dough that tasted like bad Chinese chicken tender dough. Taco's are easily 5 stars (but a big loss for empanadas).
