Absolutely delicious!! Answered all of my questions and provided excellent suggestions. Got this as take out and everything was... still fresh and crispy when I got home. Very large pieces of fish that were not over cooked and delicious fries that even heatedup well in the oven as left overs! Read more

First thing we noticed was how amazing the service was. Greeted at the door right away, and sat quickly. Our waitress was... wonderful and we even had a few other interactions with other waitresses and they were all amazing. Food was off the charts.Fish and chips were some of the best we?ve ever had. The buttermilk chicken sandwich was perfectly crispy! The gravy for frieswas also an amazing flavour profile. The vibe of the restaurant was wonderful, super clean and classic vibes. Loved this place, and we will be back!! Read more

Love this place for great service and food. We drove up to this spot after work today. Got the halibut, Haddock, cod, seafood... chowder, and calamari. Everything was piping hot except the fries. I dont know what happened, but the fries for all 3 orderswere warm and dry. Usually theres a nice crisp on the outside, and fluffy potato inside. But today it tasted ... Old. Fish wasnice piping hot. We ordered 3 types of fish to see what the difference was. Cod is flaky with a more fishy flavour. Haddock hasa nice firmness to the fish, flaky and juicy. But I see why the halibut was the most expensive. Firm, dense and flaky. A nicetrifecta. Too bad today we only enjoyed the fish part of the meal. We will be back, hoping that next time will be a betterplate. Read more

We came to Chip+Malt a few weeks ago, and they definitely had some serious "fish and chips" action going on. The portions were... huge, especially, the chips, not only they were thick-cut but also lots of them; perhaps, too much, honestly. The fish filletswere also good-sized. The flesh was very fresh, moist and tasty while the batter was light and crispy. Also, the service wasfriendly and diligent. Read more

Had a lovely first experience at Chip+Malt. Was greeted pleasantly at the door promptly after the place opened. We requested... to be seated outside at the patio since it was really nice out. Halibut was really good; crispy batter and good portion size. Chips are cut in house and fried well. Service was exceptional. Will be back for sure! Read more

I had the pleasure of visiting Chip + Malt. It is situated in the heart of Newmarket on Historic Main Street. The decor is a... stunning mix of classic British memorabilia throughout the restaurant. Clean, bright and comfortable familyrestaurant. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. The chefs use the best quality local ingredients to produce dishes thatare simply delightful. The menu is cooked entirely from scratch from fresh made tartar sauce to homemade ice cream and amazingBread Pudding. We started with hand breaded calamari which is a must try when visiting. The classic Halibut and Hand-cut Chipswere crispy, thick and moist. The grilled Beef burger was juicy and full of flavor. The service was outstanding, fast andfriendly. The new owners have taken this restaurant to the next level by putting their guests first. As a fellow chef, I highlyrecommend this restaurant. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is brilliant. This is an amazing fish and chips restaurant on Main Street, Newmarket. We were lucky to have Robyn be our server and she was... amazing...extremely helpful, very attentive, polite and funny, and she recommend what to eat, since we hadn't been here before.I ordered the Haddock and it covered my plate...so huge...but more importantly, not greasy and lightly battered. In the photobelow, I've probably eaten 2/3's of it and there are lots of fries, with coleslaw and tartar sauce...there is a bottle of maltvinegar on each table, which I love with my fries. My wife had the Halibut and upgraded to a bowl of clam chowder soup. Bothfish were amazingly tasty. The fries were a bit too crisp for me, but my wife liked the ones she tried. The meals werereasonably priced and tasted great. The staff were very friendly and they treat us so nicely. We will definitely go again. Thebooths were very clean, and the bathroom is also extremely clean and well looked after. Read more
