Wanted so badly to love this place and was super excited to finally take the long drive to try it but it was SO disappointing.... The goulash had the grossest cuts of meat. After two bites I couldn?t keep eating and had to throw it out. It had thick veinswhich were super chewy (as you can see in this pic) ????. It was also really oily to the point of making me sick. A local restaurant located in Main St. Newmarket, The Goulash House is a must visit if you?re looking to try delicious Hungarian... food ???? The menu is accessible through a QR code, and once you?re ready, you just let the server know. We ordered the BeefGoulash and Schnitzel on a Bun (you can choose between chicken or pork), and both took roughly 10-15 minutes to arrive. I lovedthe Beef Goulash, it was very flavourful and there were a lot of tender chunks of beef shanks in it too. I would say it?s theperfect comforting meal to have on a cold winter day! The Schnitzel on a Bun was also very nice, the buns were soft and thechicken was nicely battered too. It?s made similar to a katsu but it?s much thinner, less flakier and definitely didn?t taste asoily. Try dipping abit of the bread in the Goulash, it?s a great combination ???? The Schnitzel on a Bun also came with friesand I loved how it was nicely seasoned as well! We definitely had leftovers as the portions were quite generous. Would Irecommend visiting this local spot? We were in the area and did not know what to eat.. then we saw this gem. Food is delicious!! Portion is awesome and service,... despite the owner being alone, was great. The Joiko soup is out fantastic... The old castle pork was good but not exactly whatI expected... Then we finished with a awesome cheese strudel... We ordered the mini goulash, cabbage roll, and jager schnitzel. Everything was absolutely amazing, the flavour combinations were... phenomenal. Also HUGE portions - just like in Hungary! I was meaning to come to this restaurant for a long time and finally came for my birthday with my family. I definitely wasn't... disappointed! The food was awesome! I shared a platter for two with my wife and it was more than enough. My family atedifferent items on the menu and everyone was happy with their meal. Portion size is huge and the meats were super tender. Their cabbage rolls tasted great as well. Service was great as well and everyone was nice.
