This is a spectacular hotel with a disappointing restaurant. I don’t understand why they haven’t hired an amazing chef to... compliment this gorgeous place. Go for drinks and the view. Pass on the food. No more said. Read more

It’s our second stay at the Chanler and the food is exceptional… warning: not for those who want large or extra large... portions, definitely a meal with updated upscale American style fare, served with a fabulous view by lovely staff. Every mealhas been so so good! Read more

We came from Boston (1.5h away) to have lunch in this gorgeous place. The flowers on each table and the music were perfect! Our... pasta with chicken was incredible! Desert, that our waitress advice us to get was to die for! We took a lot of pictures, enjoyedthe beautiful view, and overall had an excellent time! Read more

Okay service, not a great value, like left after an expensive meal still hungry. After hearing good things, decided to check... out The Café at The Chanler doe dinner. The cafe is in an enclosed outdoor area right now. Was tough to see outside and on ahazy evening, not a super pretty view. I got a cocktail, which was okay, but not worth $18. I decided to skip an appetizer, asnothing sounded interesting. Overall, I was unimpressed by the items on the menu. Nothing really stood out to me or seemedunique, so I went with a seafood option. Now, let me preface this by saying that I eat a lot of seafood - at home, takeout andout at restaurants. This was the most disappointing seafood dish I've had in a while, as well as the most expensive. At $52 Iordered the Campenelle pasta dish with lobster and scallops. There were two small pieces of lobster tail, two fairly smallscallops, not a lot of pasta and some capers in an underwhelming broth. It looked pretty, but that was about it. The lobster hadcartilage and shells in it. The scallops tasted like they weren't fresh. And the broth was uninteresting. This was certainly notworth $52. My crab Benedict at another restaurant I had for breakfast had more seafood than my dinner. My fiance got the filetmignon, which was tiny and came with a dollop of rice and scallions, which was $42. We both left feeling hungry and after payingthose prices, that should not be the case. I wouldn't go back both for the value and the taste. Try another restaurant if you'rein the area. Read more

We took a day trip from Providence to Newport to walk the Cliff Walk and explore. I made lunch reservations at the Cafe at the... Chanler based on researching the area online. This was our first trip out since the COVID shutdown, and our cancelled wedding,so I wanted to make sure it was safe and fun. They had their COVID precautions available on the website, and I was able toreserve an outdoor table with no problem. The service, the food, and the view were all OUTSTANDING! The people were friendly andaccommodating, and the proper COVID precautions were adhered to by both staff and guests. Our waiter (I wish I could rememberhis name!) was so attentive and fun. The food was great, especially dessert! Fresh, high quality, and beautifully plated.Expensive yes, but we had planned on that, and considered our first trip out a special occasion. The view (and the weather) wereperfect. The wine list and cocktails were also wonderful. Highly recommend the "Summer Breeze" - my new favorite warm weathercocktail! Would love to stay at the hotel someday, perhaps if we win the lottery! ;) But we'll definitely be back to the Cafe! Read more
