My wife and I and her sister Jill ate at Montana Mikes in Newton after church today. We've stayed away for about a month and a... half due to having some pretty poor meals but we went ahead and braved it today and very glad we did. Whatever was going on withthe kitchen must be fixed now, as our meals were clear off the charts in goodness. I had the baby back ribs, a salad, greenbeans with campfire shrimp sauce that I used as a dip (sweet and spicy) both meals came with a delicious cinnamon apple dessert.Pam ordered the pork chop meal and a side of mushrooms as well as steamed broccoli. My ribs were fall off the bone tender,couldn't even cut them with a knife, the meat just fell off the bone. The rib sauce was the icing on the cake, making themmouthwatering. My salad was fresh and crispy, the beans with the campfire shrimp sauce were fabulous. I took a bite of Pam'spork chop, there were two large tender chops with her meal, she couldn't eat both so brought one home and fortunately for methat's what I had for dinner tonight. Got their steak Togo, the steak had more fat on it then meat. That already raised some red flags, but it was too late anyway... because it's a far drive; and I didn't want to waste a 30 dollar meal. Ate it, then a few minutes after I started feelingweird.. I laid in bed all day, having bodily functions I really wish I didn't have. This place gave me FOOD POISONING. Usually is ok but ordered a burger and fry?s and it literally looks like a kids meal this time and no extra sauce
It wasn't too shabby. You do get huge portions of food at this place. The service was good, our waitress was friendly and... personable. We went around 4:00 on our way home from Des Moines and I'm glad we were there early because they seem to be shortstaffed and it was getting busy as we left. My only complaints were my steak was a bit chewy and there were a lot of fliesbuzzing around. (Though it did appear and feel clean in the restaurant) I would go again and try out a few more items. Absolutely adored the vibe and the food of the restaurant. Our server, Hannah, was amazing! She kept us updated on the food, and... even though they were understaffed, our food came relatively quickly! Amazing! Read more
Food and service were excellent. Waited a bit for food but they had signs posted at entrance and hostess station to let you know... ahead of time they were a bit short staffed. It wasn't an incredibly long wait and our server was amazing. Would return. Read more
Food was pretty good; portions were huge on everything but the steak. The server was new and got the order wrong. Then instead... of finishing the cooking of the steak(which I asked for), they sent out a new grissly one instead. And, it took a long time toget the second one.... Read more
My tenderloin was the best I have ever had. ?? veggies were so fresh and the bun was toasted and warm.. very good
