Server was ok. Hostesses were rude; tried to put us upstairs which was empty and being used as a place to fold napkins despite... downstairs having plenty of space. Food was just not good, especially given the price and competition in the area. If you likeyour bread squished while it's being cut, pasta sauce with too much sugar, grilled swordfish that was too thin and over cooked,seafood cioppino (today's special $78) with overly salty white fish, lobster that was frozen past its used by date, and "spicy"sauce that barely had a touch of pepper, then this place is perfect for you. Prices suggest everything is fresh, but clearlyit's all frozen and reheated. Swordfish in Newton should be fresh if you're charging $40, Boston harbor is 20 minutes away.Looks nice from the street so we took a shot, definitely not a return visit though. Wine was good. The food was delicious. Everyone at the party was happy with their meals, portion size, and speed of service. Having the full... 2nd-floor room to ourselves allowed us to fully enjoy our time together. A great dining option for a private companydinner...especially since it was found using GOOGLE and no one had been to Tartufo before! We will be back. Read more

Elegant restaurant, nice ambiance for chatting. Tiramisu was amazing. Entrees are pricey and chicken parmesan was too heavy with... lots of melted mozarella and pasta with excessive tomato sauce. I would maybe come here again for dessert but not for entrees.Street parking options on the street. Read more
Good Italian food in Newton Center. The clam and shrimp scampi is the perfect size. The bread is very good. Lemon sorbet is... large enough to share. The chicken parmigiana is enormous. Good service. The high top chairs are not comfortable so requested aregular table. Read more

We had a great night at Tartufo! We are local and always very curios to taste their food. It was my birthday and we went with my... family there. We did not have a reservation but they accommodate us and gave us a great treat! The food was great. It was like anice family restaurant in Italy. Pasta was great, even for a my wife that is Italian!
